Difficult model
The information in this book is sensational, with photographs and cut-away interiors and illustrations that bring the learning to life. The book not only tells about Solomon's construction of the Temple, but also of the fall into disrepair and disuse, and then the destruction of the Temple by invaders. The book would be better for me if it had scripture references, where to find the information in the Bible. The model turned out well. But heads up, Moms: this model is DIFFICULT. Once I saw that the pieces were to be punched out of cardboard, folded, ad glued, I knew my family of boys could do it all by themselves. NOT SO FAST. The tricky thing is the tabs. Make sure you teach your kids NOT to fold the BLUE tabs before pushing them through the slots, since folding them will make the tabs too bendy to push through. We used hot glue for the majority of the gluing. Some of the tricky spaces, we used bamboo skewers to reach glue right where we needed it. The pointy end of bamboo skewers was also handy for opening up some of the slots a little more. For attaching the structures to the platforms, we just used regular tape. That became the job for the littlest brother -- tape puller and taper. The most difficult piece was the covered entrance with the pillars -- the tabs and gluing was a big process. So, to sum up -- DO NOT FOLD the tabs before you insert them through the slots. BAMBOO SKEWERS come in handy for precision gluing and opening some slots. HAVE PATIENCE and make sure everyone has a job to do.** I will add our photos to Customer Images. **

Interesting Historical Picture Book and Bonus
I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my Grandfather who is a religious scholar. I was originally only interested in the model included with the book but after receiving it I was pleasantly surprised. The book has some pretty solid illustrations and some good detailed historical information in it. You are not just seeing how Solomon's Temple probably looked, you are learning about why and how the building was arranged the way it was. My Grandfather seemed to really like the gift; however, I think this product might really shine as a teaching aid for a Sunday school class for kids. The book and model would go great for teaching younger children the historical data surrounding King Solomon's Temple. Another quality I found wonderful is the purely Old Testament content, this makes the book appropriate for Jewish, Christian, and other audiences. It is really hard to find anything relating to the ancient near east that is not heavily biased, this book is one of those rare gems. The book was easy to understand, the model was fun to assemble (looks good on a desk,) and the content was historical not religious. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in the ancient near east, or the united monarchy of King David and King Solomon.

Missing the Model
Unfortunately the model is missing from this book. zip had reached out to the owner and they did explain that they were not sure if the model would be included since it had been a long time they sold this to Amazon. They said if anything just send it back for a refund. They were honest from the beginning. I will be honest, even though the model is missing the book is well worth it. Mt book atleast came with the instructions of how to put the model together so I can still make this an arts and crafts project for the family.

very nice book and model
very nice book with just the right amount of detail for an overview of the history of the Temple without getting too much into the weeds. The paper model is nice and what I really purchased the book for, I am still putting it together, but so far it seems pretty straight forward. Will make a very nice teaching aid for my Sunday School class.

Good visual for a Sunday School or Bible Study.
It was as expected. A little difficult in some places to put together, but I'm not very crafty. Very informative and gives you a good idea of what the temple was like.

Fabulous design and good accuracy. However
Fabulous design and good accuracy. However, it requires some very nimble fingers. Was hoping to have children make it but proved too tricky.

Very helpful for a Sunday school project. We built the temple out of Legos and used this book and model as source material along with the Bible.

Beware!!! Model can not be built by any child.
The reason I am giving Solomon's Temple Model a one star rating is because the recommended 7-9 year old age group is completely deceptive. No child can put the model together. There are no real directions; only pictures. The pictures don't give instructions. They just show what goes together, but not how to do so. Even an adult would need to put it together in multiple steps and it would probably take days to do a good job. My adult daughter and I worked together and it took about three non-stop hours and a lot of teamwork to get an OK model built. The paper that makes up this model is too thin to withstand the upside down construction that must be done to complete the model. The information in the book is good, but if you want to actually have your child build this model; please don't frustrate them. It is an impossible task.
