v6.7 book not perfect, but better than anything else
First off... I'm EXTREMELY thankful that this book exists. I recently upgraded to 6.7 from 6.5. I wanted to properly learn my VMware environment on my own. Meaning, I can't afford to spend thousands of dollar$ to get trained. So why did I only give it 3 stars? The 3 stars are because I am glad this book exists. However, it is clear that it was just 'rehashed' from the previous version. For example, the screenshots of the vCenter management application is using the Adobe Flash based (FLEX) version instead of the HTML5 version... even though the author states that it IS the HTML version... this is INCORRECT. To see the same figures in the book, you need to run the Adobe Flash version (FLEX).Once I figured out to use the FLEX version, I wsa able to follow along with the book. But then other issues started to appear.Chapter 3 goes over the management features within the VCenter Server application. Unfortunately the text doesn't seem to match up with the included screenshot it is referencing. As an example, the screeenshot of the 'CONFIGURE' menu options show a section called 'Datastore', but NO MENTION of this in the text of the book. A few pages later and the text mentions a sub-secton called 'Graphics' under the Hardrware sub-section of the 'CONFIGURE' tab.... but alas there is no 'Graphics' section showin in the screenshot. I'm guessing this is because the text was just pulled from a previous version of the book that included the same text.Nonetheless, this book in general is better than the useless training material that VMware themselves provide through their online educational site, myvmware that costs ALOT more than this book. (VMware as a company should be embarrassed hat they don't provide better training material for their own products)In summary, I recommend this book to anyone needing some sort of manual to help them navigate their way around their VMware 6.7 environment. Just be aware that the information in this boook seems to be inaccurate for this version.

Decent book but not a good update
The book is written well, but as other reviewers have mentioned, it is not updated properly for 6.7. The beginning is, but as you get into the meat of the book you see that many references and images are from an older edition. This becomes apparent when the author uses figures and explanations based on a Windows Server install of vCenter, and when referring to the Flash-based vSphere client (both of which are deprecated in 6.7, and not recommended). That can be confusing if you are new to vSphere. If you are, remember that you want to use the vCenter appliance that is designed to be installed into a virtual machine and is based on Photon OS (linux), not Windows Server. Also, stick with the HTML5 client for vSphere, not the flash-based one.So, the images will look different than the current software, but conceptually, and for the most part, the step-by steps are still very similar.Another issue is that a lot of the figures don't translate well on the Kindle.I'd say 3.5 stars given all of the problems and lack of updating...Here's the thing though. A lot of other books on the market are worse. And stay away from Packt publishing for this content... uggg. Also, there is so much content on VMware's website. Anything you want to do is there, though it might be a bit convoluted and ambiguous at times.

Best VMware book on the market
I bought and read the Mastering VMware 6.0 book back in 2016, and loved it. This updated book really gives good information on 6.7, that is detailed. In my opinion, this is the best VMware book on the market today. After reading this book cover-to-cover, you will be well prepared for the test, but even better be ready for any problem or project at your virtualization job.

Losts of good information even though I'm learning version 7
A bit dated since version 7 is out, but most things haven't changed THAT much. It's been good enough for me to find the information that I need (as a new vSphere user using version 7). Should this Author come out with a book on version 7, I'd say it would be worth every penny.

This book could be half the current size.
At times it seems like the authors are just trying to write a thicker book. As a study tool, there is a lot of extra fluff and wordiness that isn't needed. At times the text contradicts itself on the same page because the authors have updated it with current information but didn't remove the old version info. There is a lot of good info in the book if you have the time and desire to wade through it.

Small fonts
Content seemed good, but man the text is small. I have good eyesight and don't wear glasses, but had to opt for the ebook version due to the super small printed font. Was just too difficult to read comfortably.
