The Neurology of change.
I am only just starting the third chapter and yet I am impressed. I am a certified Hypnotist and always in the background of my mind was the question of what the scientific explanation of how it all works and how science could help me make it work better. This book has answered those questions for me.

One Pattern to Rule them All...
A wonderful book for anyone interested in change work or simply improving their communication.Formally for myself, whether it was in conversation or in my work as a coach/hypnotherapist, I found it easy to get "lost" as to where I was in the process of communication or change work. This can make you feel uncomfortable, unsure, and produce a lack of effectiveness in the interaction. So often in human communication, especially when trying to effect a positive change, it can really feel like groping in the dark. I'm sure you can think of times like that. However I knew there had to be another way. I could almost sense that there was a missing underlying structure to what I had learned and tried in the past. There must be something that would act as both a map and a compass for effective communication and change that has been used by all the masters both past and present. For me it all came together when I read this book. From the very beginning, with the beautiful forward from none other than John Overdurf, the root structure for all effective change emerged and became clear as day. This clarity only increases as the authors systematically unpack all the steps and many of the nuances of the Meta Pattern in a way that allows the reader to discover their own practical, novel, and maybe profound applications for this pattern. Throughout the book the authors use the pattern to teach the pattern in a way that not only gives insights into all the resources the pattern provides but also allows you to develop the ability to use it both visibly and invisibly in all your interactions. Now, with a bit of practice, when i go back to those places where i felt lost or confused before I find a new sense of expertise and confidence in understanding exactly where we are in the process and how to move forward to the next step. I find the pattern manifesting almost effortlessly in all my interactions. It just comes out naturally even in the weirdest places like an Amazon book review :-)

Now I Understand Change Work
After taking NLP Practitioner training I felt lost in the weeds. This book clarified change work for me.The NLP Practitioner Series is an excellent series. These books are clear and very well written. Shawn, Sarah and Jess are excellent teachers. I suggest starting with this book - The Meta Pattern.Having a neuroscience basis for change work makes a difference in understanding and embracing the processes. Also, in this series hypnosis is included which is what makes sense to me. How can NLP and hypnosis be separated?I am looking forward to training with Shawn, Sarah and Jess later this year!

Finaly a link from NLP to Neuroscience
This book links the Neurolinguistic programming strategies to the underlying neurological activities. NLP practice has been more than twenty years ahead of the underlying neurological understanding of why NLP initiated changes are so effective, neuroscience is now catching up. As a master practitioner in NLP with a formal training in the physical sciences I always want to understand what I am doing. This book not only helps me understand what I am doing but is enabling me to modify my change work to be more effective. I also recommend the two other books in this series and look forward to reading more of Sean and Sarah work

So practical it hurts!
This book is straightforward and full of examples that make it a practical tool that can be used immediately! This book will give you insight as to why some people seem to effortlessly accomplish their goals or persuade others. This will help you level the playing field and live in a win-win world. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to relate better to the world around them!

Something Different
An interesting point of view, well argued. Helps to flesh out some of the questions intermediate students often have as to what to do when or why we choose a particular technique over another.

This is a wonderful book and a very enlightening publication in the field ...
This is a wonderful book and a very enlightening publication in the field of NLP. The book provides a strategy for organising therapeutic tools in the context of change work. The citing of different techniques in apllication, gives the book its rich flavour. However, in promoting a healthy public dialog, I would like to point out two things which struck me as queer 1). There is a massive generalisation about the application of the Meta Pattern inside of all NLP techniques. Some techniques simply don't fit in the pattern, unless you ignore other aspects of its intrinsic value. 2). The pattern - as a way of structuring and organising therapeutic intervention - had been identified by the founders of NLP (upon modelling Milton H. Erickson) since the 1970's. Thus, naming an strategy doesn't make it a recent innovation. Regardless, the book provides a wealth of information to anyone who has an interest in the field. Nicely worded, straight to the point and well formatted.

Love the content but pages falling out
I live the content of the book & have learned a lot from it. Unfortunately ever 5 pages or so a page falls out if the book so it is extremely annoying, hence dropping a star
