modbox USA Modern Wall Mounted Mailbox (White)

This mailbox is gorgeous. I ordered it in turquoise and the finish is absolutely flawless. The box is well designed and very well made. Most wall mounted mailboxes have a hinged lid on top requiring you to bring your head near the wall to look down inside to see if you've got mail (or spiders or moths...). With the modbox design, the entire box tilts out and it is very easy to see whats inside. The tilting part pivots on a pair of bushings to keep it operating smoothly. It arrived very well packaged with foam cushioning on the ends to prevent damage during shipping. The box is not 100% rain proof so take that into consideration. Some folks might think the box is a little small, the dimensions given are accurate, so get out a ruler before you commit. If you get a lot of junk mail or magazines they will need to be folded in order to fit. I wish the letter tray option was offered on Amazon as I would have purchased that too.

We bought this because we loved that the door opens out/down, rather than at the top. this way I can see any creepy crawlies in there when I open it. It was very easy to install, and it is very beautiful (we bought the bright orange). However, it is on the small side, and because we get a lot of big flyers and magazines, most of the time when I come home there is some mail poking out.Our mailbox is shielded from any rain, so I can't comment on how well it keeps out water, but with the mail sticking out most of the time, if it weren't shielded by the roof then it would get wet that way.The price was very expensive, but I couldn't find anything with such fun colors and with the door that pulls down.

This mailbox was installed on an uneven wall, so the surface was already difficult. The mailbox was so flimsy that it was flexing during installation and initially would not open. We have had it in place for about a year and are now shopping for a new mailbox. This one is rusting in the bottom corner and does not stand up to rain at all. The last batch of holiday cards we received was soaking wet. Very unfortunate, as it is such a beautiful mailbox. I will also add that it isn't very big. If you receive a sizable batch of mail, this mailbox will not suffice. Unless you need a mailbox for decoration only, do not waste your money.

Looks great and is mostly well made. The foam weather strip at top came un-stuck and sort of flopped around inside the box in shipping, so now little bits of foam are stuck in various parts of the mailbox. Mine is under an eave so it doesn't get wet - not that worried about it.EDIT:OK, some serious points to Greg at Modbox - The mailbox has been great and holding up well (granted it is not out in the elements, but under the porch overhang). I'm editing my comment, because *without asking,* I received a new foam weather strip in the mail as per my original comment, and Greg's comment below. I added a star for the quality of customer service (was previous at 4 stars).

I get so many compliments on my house from passersby. I know the mailbox is one of the reasons. The only downside is that if its wet at all and you have cedar type shingling your mail is going to get wet because water collects inside.

I needed a modern-looking, well made mailbox. The Modern Mailbox is absolutely perfect. It's not too big, gorgeous in appearance, installs easily, and is cleverly designed. The mailbox rotates outwards from the mounting box, and is beautifully balanced. Only regular sized envelopes will fit; this would not work for a business or larger packages. For me, this was the perfect purchase. If mounting on vinyl-siding, the enclosed wood screws are not long enough; one needs a longer wood screw, such as used in deck assembly. Highly recommended!!

We really like it for our "rectangular" ranch style house. It fits the era and the mail fits in the mailbox. There are lots of colors to choose from. I just wish I would have ordered the extra feature of a outgoing mail flag.

Looks amazing on our mid century modern style house. The color is bold and stands out. Exactly what I wanted!
