Ankuoo REC Smart Home Dimmer Switch, Wi-Fi Light Switch, Works with Alexa, Neutral Wire Required, No Hub Required, ETL and FCC Listed

Another update…. Ankuoo’s website is up again and the Ankuoo REC Alexa skill is now called Chacon Home. Guess they changed owners? They have my email, they could have sent some notification they would be down for two weeks and to be patient. I thought they had gone out of business. 2 stars for very poor customer communication and for costing me $200. I had started replacing these with TP-Link switches.Well, buying off brand Chinese garbage has struck again. Ankuoo Alexa skill has stopped working. IOS app still works but for how long? Ankuoo.com no longer exists and using the feedback link in the app to send an email to support gets an undeliverable response. Looks like Ankuoo has quietly gone out of business and their services are slowly dying. Now I’ve got a pile of waste switches. Do yourself a favor and if you go with a generic brand, make sure they are zigbee or zwave so they aren’t reliant on proprietary services, those are controlled by a smart home hub. If you go with WiFi switches get an established brand like Tp-Link that won’t go belly up fast without letting anyone know. I guess it’s possible they are performing maintenance and moving to a new website but it’s unlikely. The Chinese knockoff companies come and go quickly. It’s a shame because these switches perform really well and never seem to have issues.guess it’s time to start buying TP-Link switches and replace the 12 Ankuoo switches I have 🤬Working great for our festoon lights by our stock tank pool. Installed in a watertight housing. See picsupdate: these are selling for a crazy $10 a piece right now so i scooped up 5 more. Im going to install these in all bedrooms and one in the living room. Alexa integration has been perfectly flawless since i installed my first of these outside. the existing switch ive had for months has only lost connection once but that was a router issue. my only little issue with this brand of switch is if someone holds the on/off button for more than a few seconds, it resets the switch to factory. this is a minor annoyance since adding the switch back to my account takes a minute or two, but a hidden separate reset button either behind the face-plate or a pin sized hole not easily pressed would be nice to prevent inadvertent resets. overall for the price you cant ask for too much more so im very happy with the performance.

Overall, the item works well. It had no issues connecting to my WiFi, just make sure you are connected to the 2.4ghz or B WiFi network on your smartphone before you set it up through the REC Switch app. Once set up, you can change your WiFi on your phone because it’s controlled through the REC cloud. That means you can control while away from home.Installation was a bit of troubleshooting and error. The electrical gang box appeared to be big enough but this light switch would stick out a bit. I had to force it in and jam some folded pieces of paper on the left side to make it straight and flush.A few days later, I got a Google Assistant and was able to set up the switch through that. I can now control it through the REC app, Google Home app, or through voice, including dimming.

So my experience on this was most of the rec switches woildnt connect to rec unless you use the AP mode. So be sure to use that mode. Also the cover can be difficult to snap in place.After linking rec to alexa using the skill, seems any switches with updated firmware do not work. I had to factory reset them before alexa coild control them again.Found the last thing out with no help from support after spending hours trying to figure it out.But all in all, it’s great for the price.

A nightmare to set up since most routers work with 5G, and this won’t connect to 5G. Once I got it up and running it did work for a while, then came constant issues with it disconnecting from wifi. Now, I can’t even log into the app because it gives an error message “request time out. Please try again”. I have tried restarting the whole system, deleting the app and reinstalling it, etc. It now just works like a normal dimmer switch I have to operate by hand. Oh, and don’t bother clicking “app support” because there is none. It opens up a blank tab.

i spet 4 hours trying to get it to work. got hold of amazon and they where great got it working fast. but the company did not have time for me

Good switch but their app had issues communicating with Alexa as well as the switch itself sometimes. Not blaming the switch must be something to do with the app. Otherwisegreat!

Great product, little tricky to install but works great once you get it working.

App stopped working on 8/12/21

La calidad del producto es muy buena. La instalación requiere tener el cable de NEUTRAL, POSITIVO y el del FOCO, es decir, funciona como un aparato eléctrico que requiere su propio voltaje, ademas de cerrar el circuito para el foco. Le coloco 1 estrella de calificación por que lo compre únicamente para usarlo con ALEXA, pero la SKILL de Ankuoo REC no esta disponible en Mexico a pesar de que este producto lo compres en Amazon Mexico y diga que es compatible con ALEXA. NO se puede manejar sin el Skill.

Aun no compatible con Alexa en México ya que no puedes descargar el skill Rec Ankuoo, puedes configurarlo para Google Home pero por alguna razón no puedes activarlo por voz. Lo puedes controlar desde el app de la marca y poner timers. Es enero del 2019 espero que dentro de poco el Skill de Alexa esté disponible para México.

Compramos 2 de estos y los instalamos nosotros mismos ... fácil de instalar la electricidad, pero no tan fácil de conectar a la aplicación para su teléfono. La instrucción podría haber sido mucho mejor.

Es necesario que corrijan su publicación ya que no trabaja con Alexa en México y realmente varios lo compramos solo por esta compatibilidad.... con la aplicación propia trabaja muy bien el equipo..
