I've been uncorking wine bottles for 50 years (gee, time keeps on slipping into the future). This is the best tool I've had. The handle provides all the pressure you need to insert the cork screw and if the cork is good the turning process will pull the cork free of the bottle. It can be a bit difficult getting the cork out of the handle, but that's a small price to pay. Bonus. An engineer friend taught me a better way to start. Get a utility knife and cut up (verticle) and under the foil wrapper around the bottle top. Peel off the foil, then use your corkscrew. It is amazing how easy it is to remove the wrapper and how much easier it is to uncork the bottle without the foil around. I used to work a knife around the top of the bottle and cut the top off the foil which was never easy. This upstroke taking slices of the foil never puts the knife edge against the glass and only rips through the wrapper. It is stupidly easier.

Easy to use!

These units sure aren't the quality of the old Screwpull units from the 80's & 90's. However, they work just the same. An earlier reviewer mentioned how he fixed the screw when it broke loose from the top. I don't know if what I used for adhesive was the same, but it worked great. Turn the handle upside down, fill the void with 'Loctite Super Glue Ultra Liquid Control', then reinsert the screw slowly (make sure to fit the groove properly down into the upturned head) so as not to force overflow of glue out, then hold it for about a minute or two. At this point it will be stable but you'll want to set it upright between a couple of books or something, & wait 24 hours. Good as new & much better than what the manufacturer designed.

This is absolutely the BEST wine opener -- unless you want one of the fancy automatic or electric ones. Easy to use and easy to get the cork off!

I've used one similar to this for years. Loved it--so easy to use.The handle was made of plastic and ultimately broke. The handle on THIS model is metal and not likely to ever break. I have all sorts of corkscrews/openers and none compare with this model. You just turn the handle--no downward pressure from your hand is necessary. I highly recommend this opener.

I have no strength in my hands. With this corkscrew I can open wine! It is so easy to use. I have gifted it to many of my friends.

Screw diameter is so large that it breaks corks. Too bad, screw usually pulls rock!

This works really well! I had the original screw pull from at least 20 years ago and needed to replace it. This one is so much less expensive and actually works much better. I also think it looks nicer than my old one. I like it so much that I am purchasing a second one.

Remember Screwpull? It was the simplest and best way to remove a cork from a bottle! Place the body over the bottle and drop the screw down the guide hole and twist, the cork is threaded properly and comes out smoothly. To remove the cork from the device, gently squeeze the sides and twist the other way. Simplicity itself! Unfortunately, the patent was sold and the current manufacturer does not seem to promote it, but here it is in its new incarnation! Use it once and give your drawerful of bulky, complicated, finger nipping and expensive corkscrews to the nearest recycling depot!

Does what it says - we'd had a similar design but different make and were keen to replace it when it finally broke after many years of service. This one is really good, sturdy and works well. Happy with this purchase and would recommend.

This easy twist corkscrew works so well and it's so easy. My only regret is not buying this sooner. Seems well-built so I expect it will last for many years.
