Oak Chips - Light Toast American 1lb, 6340B

I take some of my cold second fermentation and put it in a jar with a quqrter cup of this and let it sit for a couple of days in the fridge. Taste sgreat

Has a great taste and color

Makes really good whiskey. Definitely do need to toast them beforehand though. There is basically no toast on these.

They're what I ordered

Chips are pretty small. Wish they were bigger. Toasted to a medium toast and after a week liquor had a good color and flavor. Still wish they were larger.

Good product

I used these to age some homebrew tequila. The flavor washes out of them very fast, into, like, an oak tea, very quickly. Use sparingly, as I got more oaking from 15 chips than I normally do from a 1"x 1"x 6" block. Clean flavor though, just a lot of it. I'll have to let it sit a few months to temper the oakiness. It remains to be seen how much of the impurities these chips will absorb.

Had a 1/2 gallon Rum shine that I added these to. Mellowed it perfect and nice dark rum color within a month
