Our lightweight, aerodynamic shell is made from LS2's proprietary Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA) – 2 shell sizes to allow for a perfect fit and the smallest shell possible. A full metal latch assures the chin bar will stay locked when closed, and an LS2 exclusive design keeps the chin bar securely in place at the back of the helmet when it is in the open position. The UV and scratch resistant shield is optically correct and uses LS2’s FogFighter fog resistant treatment for the maximum in fog protection. The Valiant uses our Twin Shield System drop down sun shield. Its cable-operated switch is smooth, and easy to use even with a gloved hand. The removable, washable comfort padding uses breathable technical fabric, which is "Thermo-Formed." This eliminates the need for a layer of glue between the foam and the liner material and allows for the ultimate in breathability. Our cheek pads use ultra-high quality foam that is cut to shape using LS2’s 3D laser technology for all day comfort and no hot spots. Fully adjustable, flow through ventilation keeps you cool and more in control when the weather gets rough. A DOT approved quick release chinstrap makes it a breeze to get the helmet on and off your head. Long oval fit. DOT approved. Meets the FMVSS 218 Standard

IT'S A KEEPER...
ONE MONTH UPDATE: I've owned quite a few helmets over the years and this one is by far, the best. Everything about is well designed: The way the chin-bar is out of the way in open mode, the mechanism that operates the sun visor, comfort, padding, weight... everything. My only complaint is that it is noisy without earplugs or earbuds in, but unless you want hearing loss, you should be wearing some protection (I do now more than I did before). I hope LS2 keeps improving this model and keeps it in their product line. When it comes time for me to buy another, this is the one I'm going to get.Buying a helmet shouldn't be hard, but it is. Think about it... You REALLY should try it on before you buy it, and not every retailer has every helmet in every size. If you go the brick and mortar route you're pretty much stuck with whatever your dealer or retailer has in stock, and if you're not close to a huge retailer your choices are going to be limited.So... I did a TON of research. My first choice was a SHARK modular, but then through one video or another I found this LS2 instead. With the price substantially lower and with PRIME shipping, I decided to give this one a try. Carpenters have a saying... measure twice, cut once meaning, be sure you've measured properly before you mess something up. Unfortunately for me my measurements were on the cusp between MEDIUM and LARGE sizes. I ended up measuring five or six different times and got some that fell at the top of MEDIUM and some at the bottom of LARGE. I read the reviews, and went with the larger size and I'M GLAD I DID. Medium would most definitely would have been too tight for my melon, and would have been uncomfortable.Anyway, the helmet is beautiful... I bought the AVANT graphic and it's real nice. The fit and function of everything is spot-on and I'm very happy with the way everything is. I've never had a helmet with a built-in tinted sun-shield. It's nice, but I need to get used to it and I'm sure I will. I LOVE the function of being moving the chin-bar out of the way (ALL THE WAY BACK), and converting it to a half helmet. It's awesome. AND ... it looks terrific in both positions.Gotta say, this modular helmet is noisier that my full face Shoei and my half-face Zox. I don't know how it stacks up with other modulars (this is my first), but let's just say that it reminded me that I should be using earplugs while I'm out riding. Also... yes it's heavy, but about as heavy as my Shoei I think (I didn't weigh both, but I don't really notice a difference between the two).In conclusion, if you're looking for a modular helmet this one should be on your short-list. It's features ticks off all the check boxes, the price is great, and the quality & warranty (5 years) are spot-on.

The best modular helmet you can buy.
I bought the original Shark Evoline when it first came out, because I was a Motorcycle safety training instructor, and got tired of constantly taking my helmet off and on while I was talking. While the first ones were quite expensive, ($700), it was a game changer. The LS2 Valiant is lighter, quieter, has better ventilation and an exceptionally smooth mechanism to go from full face to 3/4 in a heartbeat and vica versa. The built in sun shield is awesome and the mechanism for that is smooth and quick as well. In 3/4 mode it still provides great protection you barely notice the weight change towards the back. The recessed areas for glasses keep glasses from pushing on your ears very well. The ratcheting latch on the strap is also good quality and so much easier than the old ring loops. The helmet also comes with a blow up neck pillow to further reduce wind noise and add additional support. Seriously kicking myself for not getting one of these sooner, and I cannot think of a single thing that needs improvement. The sizing is spot on if you use the sizing chart. If you've ever wanted to try a modular helmet, this is the most feature packed one you can get for the money. Buy it!

Awesome helmet
Never thought I’d spend this much on a helmet but this is big time bang for your buck and actually a really good value. The modular aspect is fantastic. Had to return for next size up but this is super comfortable. I did not get too much wind noise, wasn’t bad at all (behind a windshield). Ventilation is good. Transitioning from full face to open, to shield down to darker shades are all very simple while riding. Helmet is not too heavy, I already rode for hours with no issue. Wish I bought this helmet years ago and will buy again if the time comes for replacement, I think it is a terrific value, very versatile and actually entices you to want to wear a helmet. BTW, it is a very good looking helmet. Field of vision is amazing for a full face modular. Additionally, I wear prescription glasses and the helmet is very glasses friendly. Very pleased with this model.

Good Fit
Couple of months since purchase of the LS2 257 Valiant motorcycle helmet. Bought the black light green (glow in the dark). Usually, I'm a solid color helmet guy. This is pretty wild graphics and typography. What's with the "670 MPH" logo? Sized long oval XXXL where the tag in the helmet says 65-66 cm and the LS2 website doesn't specify for 3XL. My head measures 63 cm and this helmet just fits. Often other 2XL helmets would put too much pressure across the forehead. In this helmet it's still too tight to wear a balaclava (stick with the neck gaiter). Riding urban, surburban, and farmland patrols this helmet is quite comfortable. Haven't tested in rain or cold, cold weather. Top and chin air vents provide perceptible air flow (too often air vents are more decorative than functional). The 2 bottom opening clicks of the face shield provide nice air flow without making my eyes water at low to moderate speeds (under 60 mph). Above 70 mph, the fully closed faceshield makes little annoying whistling noises. The 180 degree flip back of the chin bar is a very nice feature. Too often opening a modular helmet puts a giant sail on top of your head. The inner tinted screen does touch my nose when fully deployed. Also the inner tinted screen has rather awful distorted optical quality. Cheek pads are very tight fitting, but should loosen up with wear. The neck roll and chin curtain should be good for colder weather. The removable and washable liner sounds questionable (tried this on other helmets and they never go back together quite right). Nice to have the helmet make some provision to wear glasses. Indeed a fan of the ratcheting quick release buckle on the chin strap. Overall, a pretty well built motorcycle helmet. Quality of construction and materials still seems somewhat cheap for the price of the helmet. Happy to find a helmet that fits comfortably.
