#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The stunning debut novel from one of the most creative artists of our generation, Bobby Hall, a.k.a. Logic. โBobby Hall has crafted a mind-bending first novel, with prose that is just as fierce and moving as his lyrics. Supermarket is like Naked Lunch meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest โif they met at Fight Club .โโErnest Cline, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Ready Player One Flynn is stuckโdepressed, recently dumped, and living at his momโs house. The supermarket was supposed to change all that. An ordinary job and a steady check. Work isnโt work when itโs saving you from yourself. But things arenโt quite as they seem in these aisles. Arriving to work one day to a crime scene, Flynnโs world collapses as the secrets of his tortured mind are revealed. And Flynn doesnโt want to go looking for answers at the supermarket. Because something there seems to be looking for him. A darkly funny psychological thriller, Supermarket is a gripping exploration into madness and creativity. Who knew you could find sex, drugs, and murder all in aisle nine? Review: Great book! Fast shipping, but creased cover :( - Finished this in 3-4 hours. Couldnโt put it down. I had heard a lot of people talk about how badly written it sounds, but coming from a book critic THATโS THE POINT. The story is being told from his point of view. Youโre in his mind. Itโs not poor writing. Conversational and all over the place and mini tangents is the style because the book is depicting the mind of a crazy man. I originally read it because it was a recommendation from my husband, but this one has gotta go on the blog. It was great for breaking my readers block. Review: Darkly Funny, Raw, and Uncomfortably Brilliant - Darkly funny and thought-provoking, psychological thriller written by the music artist Logic (whose real name is apparently Bobby Hall). Story follows Flynn, a struggling writer battling depression & writerโs block, who takes a job at a local supermarket hoping to find inspiration for his book. The plot quickly spirals into a surreal exploration of mental health, identity, and the blurred line between reality & imagination. This was heavily reminiscent of Fight Club, both have unreliable narrators, mental disintegration, and an on-point critique of consumer culture. Super raw & immersive read.

Good book
The book โSupermarketโ by Bobby Hall was a suspenseful, thriller book. This book was very good and at certain points I could not put down the book. There was time my jaw was on the floor and times when I was confused. This book puts you through an emotional rollercoaster with a big plot twist that is unexpected. The plot devices used in this book was Macguffin, and Deus Ex Machina. Macguffin was used at the end as a helpful unexpected ending. Multiple objects were used to bring the plot to a resolution. Deus Ex Machina is also used because the problem was unexpectedly solved. Deus Ex Machina and Macguffin worked hand and hand in this book. I did enjoy this novel. Like I previously stated I was shocked and got emotionally invested in this book. There are lots of turns and plot twists that will leave you wanting to read more. The characters get you invested, and curiosity keeps you reading. I enjoyed all the characters and the way the book was set up. I really enjoyed the breaking of the fourth wall that was done frequently. I would recommend this book. In fact, I have recommended it. If you like mysteries this book is such a good choice. Itโs hard to explain why I recommend it without spoiling it, but the plot twist will leave your jaw dropped. Overall, this book gets an 8.5/10 and that is just because I had to read this book for school. The book is short but so good and I highly recommend.

Great Artist, Decent author
When Logic first announced that he was going to release a book, I didnโt really take him serious and brushed it off as a joke (since he is usually saying outlandish and goofy things but thats just him), but then I saw the cover of his book โSupermarketโ and was quite in shock, but super excited nonetheless! So I pre-ordered his book when I had the chance. Just a fair warning to yโall, I am a fan of Logic as a musical artist so my opinion might come off as a bit โbiasedโ, so take that with a grain of salt. However, I am a sucker for a good story and my book-shelf mainly consists of non-fiction and self-improvement titles but this isnโt my first fictional book iโve Read. Anyways once I received the book, I began reading it almost immediately and I will tell you this, the first page of the book grabbed my attention faster than a Lamborghini zooming through an urban neighborhood late at night. One thing that you cannot deny about this young man (if you heard his music or seen any of his interviews) is that he has a really eccentric and creative imagination. The main protagonist of this whole story is named โFlynnโ and is very reminiscent of Logic himself, except for the fact that he doesnโt have the musical talent that Bobby Hall possesses. Flynn is a โsoon to beโ author who is working at a Supermarket (hence the title of the book) to finish the rough draft of his first book and get it done before the deadline. But things donโt go as planned for young Flynn in this twisted, dark, and interesting world of his. I donโt want to spoil too much of the story for anybody who is interested in reading this book, but I will say that this book reminds me a lot of the movie โInceptionโ as far as being confusing yet intriguing. One thing for sure is that this book received a lot more attention in the media because of who the author is, not necessarily a bad thing since I did enjoy the time Iโve spent reading his first book and his did a pretty decent job on it. I hope he comes out with a second installment of this book or creates a totally new book.

An Incredible First Run
Being a huge fan of the positivity in Bobby Hall's message as the MC Logic, I was incredibly excited to venture into his first fictional novel. I knew, from his music, that he was an avid story teller. But I wasn't sure how this passion for creativity would translate on paper as a full fledged novel. I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, the writing in this book is great. Mr. Hall breaks the fourth wall in a way that doesn't feel uncomfortable, or scripted. He does so in a way that feels very natural and entertaining. The dialogue feels about as natural as possible among people in the age range of the characters, and it fits well in the message of the story. Once you were sucked into the book, it was nearly impossible to put down. There were times where the perspectives in the story were hard to follow. I found myself having to re-read a paragraph or two over to follow where I was. That was also a positive for me though too. The book is cerebral. It forces you to think, but not to overthink. I would honestly recommend this book to anyone. Though I think it may hit home with people who are fans of dark themed thrillers like Fight Club. This work could easily become labelled as a cult classic with a following like Fight Club.

Interesting
First let me say, overall I liked it. The writing was not the best, it felt a bit like a high school kid wrote it...not a talented writer with a wonderful editor. I noticed this lack of polished word play but it was not terribly distracting. The story is told in two parts. The beginning is about the main character, Flynn, and his experiences working in a grocery store. He has had a tremendous stroke of luck and has gotten a publisher to buy his first book on spec, they've paid him an advance now he must produce the manuscript. His novel is to be set in the grocery story where he works. Then in part two, still following Flynn we find that something major has happened and time has passed. I don't want to tell you more, it will ruin your experience. I found the ending pretty unbelievable, but then again, most books I read you have to push your disbelief aside and just enjoy. This is one of those books that is good, interesting, a quick read. Not genius, not my favorite of the year or even the month but definitely interesting and something I am glad to have read. If you have time to give The Supermarket a go, I think you'll enjoy it. Oh, and if you do, I have one thing to say to you, "coffee, coffee, coffee." (You'll get it if you read the book.)
