DO NOT BUY THIS Dry Format Bacteria. It Does Not Work
I wanted to do fishless cycling of my new freshwater tank to ensure it was healthy before adding fish. I am using a quality test kit, the API Master Freshwater Test Kit, not test strips. I checked the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels before adding anything. The ammonia and nitrite levels were 0ppm, but the nitrate levels direct from my tap water were 30ppm. I added this dry format bacteria according to the instructions for new tank startup (2-3 scoops per sq.ft. around tank base and 1 scoop per 10 gallons twice weekly for new tanks). For my 29 gal tank I put 5 to 9 scoops around the rocks plus 3 scoops added to the water after setup. I then added Dr. Tim's ammonia drops per the instructions on the bottle (4 drops per gallon - 29 gal x 4 = 116 drops). I measured the ammonia level after adding the drops and it was now 4ppm. I waited 24hrs and there was no change in the ammonia level. I waited another 24hrs and still no change in ammonia. I added 3 more scoops of this dry format bacteria and waited another 24hrs. No change in ammonia. I added 29 scoops of the dry format bacteria and waited 24hrs. No change in ammonia level, still 4ppm. My Nitrate levels were 30ppm at the beginning so I put a nitrate removal bag in the tank after the 4th day of tank setup. The ammonia level is still 4ppm 2 weeks after adding the bacteria and the drops. This bacteria was either dead on arrival or it is a bogus product.

Works - need to follow more than instructions
Chlorine in tap water will kill. So first make sure all the basics are covered - no chlorine or other stuff that isn't good for fish either. Mine took three days after I added it to start nitrification. I ran a test [second] tank with tap water just to test - nothing. So if your water is clear of disinfectants and other bacteria killers, should work fine. I also tried a third test with the store "clear ammonia" to start of a tank, a few "bubbles" in the water - nothing worked. I used LAB grade Ammonium Chloride in my main - worked great. NO fish in tanks as of yet but am nitrifying just fine.

Good bacteria!
My tank was taking a while to cycle. So I decided to buy this product. My ammonium level was at 2 ppm before I used this. A week later, the ammonium level go down to one. 2 days later, the ammonium level is 0 ppm. In place of that is a spike in nitrite. Another 2 days and the tank had finished cycle.

Post Antibiotic Treatment This Saved My Tank
I had an Aqueon filter die out on me while I was on a vacation and the guy watching my fish didn't notice. When I came back the water quality was off and within a few days, my fish had mouth fungus. I had to dose the tank with antibiotics and consequently, the bacteria in the tank took a nose dive. I had to do many a water change but these bacteria brought it back up way faster than I thought possible. If you are constantly buying liquid bacteria, try this out instead.

It works!
This bacteria really helps to jump start your cycle. I started cycling one tank without it and two weeks started another tank using this product and it already has nitrites while the first tank is still struggling with high ammonia. I definitely plan on keeping some on hand.

Not working for me.
So far this stuff hasn't jump started anything in my 4 tanks. These tanks crashed cuz I did a round of meds. The meds are out of the water and cuz of the amount of water changes needed, I pretty much am starting from square one. Delivery was nice, as far as how well this stuff works I have yet to see. P.s. I'm fallowing directions

I doubt if this works
I dont see much improvement in the water quality after adding this. I have added this several times, but still see the undigested sludge at the bottom/ Raised the temperature of water to aid the bacteria growth, but no change. I am going to get FluVal

Fastest Cycling Bacteria!
The best beneficial bacteria I've ever used. My last 65 gallon tank took 8 weeks to cycle using liquid beneficial bacteria. It took my current 75 gallons 3 weeks. Woohoo
