The X-Planes: X-1 to X-45: 3rd Edition

Dated - but still worth it !
By far the best available text on U.S. X- Designated Projects. However, the information is as of 1999 and the book was printed in 2001. So, there is nothing in it for the past 16 years or so. It would be nice if Mr. Miller would publish an update ( the current text is the third edition ). Nonetheless, the information - especially on the early X-Craft - is pure gold and well worth the (high) Price if you are looking for a good, solid, well-printed & bound, foundation text on this topic.

Superior book
The book is technical and detailed, which is exactly what I wanted. There are a lot of photos that I hadn't seen before.

This is really the complete story
Good documentation, wonderful pictures, thorough analysis of this tremendous adventure. And a compliment fto all the actors involved in this interesting phase of aircraft development.

Fantastic
A superb book. Not the kind of thing you're going to read from cover to cover, but great fun to browse through, or just flick through looking at all the pictures. If you're interested in detail about a particular X-plane, then this will almost certainly have it. It's easily the most comprehensive on my bookshelf.
