If you are building a really detailed model, this, with its partner book, are extremely useful. The book is pretty much all images and explanations of almost every part of this tank.Not 5 stars only because this book (and the partner edition) concentrates on the visible details and not really the other aspects.

This book is an excellent resource for modelers as well as informative for anyone interest in the M-1 Abrams MBT. Lots of detailed photographs of operational tanks taken in the field during combat ops. Get the whole set.

If you are an armor modeler, something I recently got back into and are researching the M1A2 SEP for a kit, you NEED this book.While it isn't the type of book that will give you the entire history and background of the tank in uber-detail, it isn't meant to be. It has so many detailed photos that virtually anything you need to see "firsthand" to recreate in miniature is in this book. It's well presented and carefully laid out. Edited by two of the best modelers in the US, it falls under the "by a modeler, for a modeler" heading.I highly recommend it for anyone doing research on this tank, or as a good, strong and comparatively quick reference.
