Possibly the greatest 2D game ever made.
Final Fantasy VI, released as III in North America, hails from all gamers of the 2D era as one of the greatest games ever made. The first game in the series to have a "modern" theme to it, this title follows the exploits of Terra, an enslaved soldier in the Ghestahlian Empire, as she and two lowly soldiers are sent to investigate the recent discovery of an Esper frozen in ice near the mountain town of Narshe. All hell breaks loose when the Esper links with Terra, removing her slave crown and blanking most of her memory. The story follows as she joins up with the treasure hunter Locke and several others as they head on an epic journey of self discovery and more in the pursuit of stopping the Empire from gaining full control of the lost art of Magic. The story reaches out to many audiences by dealing with a wide range of topics, from tragic love stories to issues such as teen pregnancy and suicide. The story is unexpectedly emotional, made even more powerful thanks to the 10/10 soundtrack by famed FF composer, Nobuo Uematsu. There are currently three versions of this game available in North America; the SNES version here, the port of it on the PlayStation in FF Anthology, under its original title of FFVI, and a recent port to the Game Boy Advance, which has a much better translation and an extra dungeon. In my opinion, the original is best. The PS port had grueling load times, and the sound quality took a loss. The GBA port has a notch above the others with the better translation, which makes the experience (most notably the opera scene) a hundred times better. It also incorporates a "run" button, and the new dungeon adds a little more time to the experience. With all of those upgrades, you are left wanting to play it on the television, and with a better sound quality, and the Game Boy Player does not do it justice at all. If you're in need of experiencing this epic in full quality, you'll want the SNES version. Just grin and bear it through the translation (and after you get to the opera scene, YouTube the GBA version of the scene. SO much better.).In short, this is the title in the franchise referred to by fans of the series as "the masterpiece", and typically beats out its successor in "top xx games of all time" lists across many publications. Truly a great game, and is easily worth $40 fourteen years after its release. 10/10.

A timeless classic
There's very little I can say about this game that hasn't been said before. What I CAN say, is as someone who's played every version of this game released state-side, that this particular version still holds the dearest place in my heart. There's something to be said about playing a game the way it was meant to be played- an SNES, with no load times, no un-needed, forced-in cut scenes, a beautiful score and graphics that were unbeatable at the time. To this day it remains one of the best RPGs I've ever played, with the most endearing characters, subtly terrifying villains, and more than a few laughs in between. (No spoony bards, though.)If you're on the fence about buying this game, all I can tell you is that it's one title that's never lost its original magic, no matter how many times I play it, and it's worth every last penny.

I was etreamly disappointed when this game never got to my house. But I. Don't blame this problem on this location. It was the fault of ups. But I wish I could find this game brand new at a decent price.

Yeah...
I know everyone says this game is amazing, and I wish i could disagree. The battle system is inventive and fast-paced. The game is actually difficult. If you know what you're doing, you don't need to farm levels, but even if you need to, it doesn't take very long. My only objection is that not every character is useful. Strago and Relm, for instance, come into the storyline rather late. They don't have the same power that other characters do, such as Sabin or Cyan. Sabin and Cyan are just BRUTALLY powerful, and can become strong magic-users, too. Strago and Relm are just useless comparatively. That said, if you want a challenge, play through the game using the wussy characters. I'm currently doing it, because I played through this game once a semester in college and need a challenge, and it's a LOT of fun!

The best RPG probably of all time
As the title of this review states, this may well be the greatest RPG of all time, if not for the Super Nintendo or any other Nintendo console. All of the characters in this game are two dimensional sprites, but their personalities are all three dimensional. With some of the most moving scenes I've ever seen in a game (Celes's attempted suicide and Locke's trying to revive his girlfriend Rachel, just to name a couple), it is definitely worth the money (I paid 30 bucks for this). But the undisputed star of the show is Kefka, the main villain. Kefka is an evil mage who literally destroys the world and becomes a godlike figure midway through the game. Not only that, but his nihilistic nature and his typical demeanor makes for some of the greatest, most hilarious quotes from any video game. Five freakin stars.

Snes Cartridge ONLY!
I only got the SNES cartridge. No Box or book, or map. The picture and description is misleading and False advertising. If they were just selling the cartridge, they should not show pictures of the box, book and the map. Not worth the price.

Great game! Excellent customer service!!!
Wow, talk about excellent customer service!!! I ordered a copy of FF3 for my SNES and the first one I received had some issues (they're retro games, so it can be difficult to find working copies). I contacted the shop and they took care of me. After a few hiccups with bad luck, they found me a cartridge that works perfectly. I highly recommend buying from this shop because they are super helpful with any issue that may come up with your order, and will fix whatever it is and treat you with respect and kindness. Thank you so much! I'm gonna go play my amazing game now. ๐๐
