Rugged Ridge 13551.16 Dash Multi-Mount Phone Kit; 11-18 Jeep Wrangler JK

I have had this Rugged Ridge in my 2016 Wrangler JK 2 door for about 6 years. It installed easily and looks great. I love that I am able to connect my GoPro on the mount facing out the front window. As mentioned in the other reviews the part that holds the phone had rubber edges that didn't do a great job holding the phone so I have made some adaptions over the years. For a while, I cut off the rubber and added a magnetic phone holder and a metal disc in my phone case and that worked well until I upraded to an iPhone 12 mini and wanted to use MagSafe for charging so couldn't have the metal disc in the case anymore. I had the idea to find a magsafe charger with the same side ball mount as the Rugged Ridge. I scoured photos of chargers on Amazon and settled on this one from Hoseason https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1NTZ3QZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!! I swapped out the charger head for the original on the Rugged Ridge and it looks and works seamlessly. I have yet to test it offroad but it feels really strong so I don't expect any issues. Added bonus is wireless charging while I drive.

4/2021 UPDATE: I now have a Galaxy S10+ with a wallet case. It constantly falls out due to thickness. (It holds the phone fine without a case.) The holder shakes horribly from coming loose. It is a pain to take apart (you have to in order to tighten). My phone now falls out regularly (even without the case) due to the shaking. I quit using it when offroad completely - I don't even mount the GoPro to it anymore unless I take the time to tighten it.9/2017 - Almost a year later and several off-road trips, I'm still happy with my purchase. It has loosened itself a bit. I took it off, tightened the part that holds the phone and re-installed it. I noticed it left marks where the hard plastic meets the soft. I'm not too worried since I hadn't planned on permanently removing the mount. Just a heads up in case that is something that is important to you. There are several reviews that talk about fixing that issue though...4/2017 - I have taken it off-road several times and it works great. The mount vibrated with the car (as expected) but the phone held snug and my go pro took great video. (I attached a pic of the adaptor I had to buy to use my go pro.)Just got it and installed it in less than 5 minutes. Holds my Samsung Galaxy S6 and Otterbox nicely. Happy so far, will update after taking the JK off-road. See if it holds the phone snugly or if it vibrates and falls.I recommend this product.

It's quite expensive, but I guess it's made specifically to fit perfectly in a Jeep Wrangler, so the price makes sense as it's not suitable for any other vehicles and is technically a custom design for us. The install was a piece of cake, but like most reviewers stated, it'll scratch your dash. The scratch will make you a bit uneasy at first, especially if it's a brand new Wrangler like mines was, but after a couple of weeks I completely forgot about it and you really can't see it unless you remove the mount. As for functionality, I guess I should have thought more about it before making the purchase; it is quite high and at an arms length away from the driver's seat.As a pure GPS mount, it's quite good (but I already have the uConnect GPS). As a dash cam type of mount, it's very stable, not shakey at all, and is directly in the middle at a very good height for a dead-on centered point of view. As a phone holder for changing music, it's quite far and your arm will get tired if you're looking through your phone for music or text messages (if you text and drive).Fit = 9.5Quality/build = 9Functionality = 7 (in my particular case)

Update 16OCT2020:After discussing with customer service via email i went ahead with attaching the rugged ridge phone mount with the provided screw. To my surprise the screw did not split. So I unscrewed it again and rescrewed the phone mount to the ball mount several times, just to make sure ( ok maybe to prove my point that it would break). To my surprise it did not break. I did not initiate a second replacement. Rugged Ridge (Omix) support contacted me via email out of the blue. I advised them several times i did not really want a replacement. They sent one anyways. Customer Service like this is rare in the past years. Rugged Ridge (Omix) have a life time customer.Update 14OCT2020:I jumped them from 2 stars to 4 stars just because of the customer service. They contacted me off line and sent me a replacement phone older for this mount. The bad... It is still to tight. When screwing the plastic screw onto the the phone holder it still cracks. Get this for the ball mount and integrated setup. Don't get it for the phone holder.Seems like a very sturdy product. Except the split screw that mine came with. Just not a fan. Not sure how well this will keep the phone tight.UpdateI lowered the product to a 2-star. The phone mount on this is not reasonable to tighten without splitting the screw.I have tried very gentle I also tried to sand down the back side of the phone mount. Still the screw is way too tight.I had another phone mount that accepts a ball-mount and that one worked perfectly on the base.The base (ball-mount) is an excellent stand. I would give that 5 star review. However this model came with the phone mount added on and that is why it came asa 2 star

This is an amazing fit for my Jeep. It’s easy to install, you just need a socket wrench and you are good to go. It’s looks like it belongs there. The fit is seamless. Holds a Samsung, adjusts to you can look at maps while driving. It’s solid and doesn’t move around. If you are like me, and tired of paying to upgrade the flaky NAV system, this is the best thing! There’s also the ability to attach a GoPro or dash cam in tandem with the phone mount or on its own. Well worth the money!
