Retro 51 Tornado Deluxe Bamboo Rollerball Pen

I've used many pens before including other roller ball pens as well as ball point, felt tip, ect.The insert that comes with this pen is a ball point insert, and it does not write that well. I find that brands such as the Uniball "Jetstream" write much smoother and is more consistent that the insert that is included with the pen.I have since changed inserts to the Tornado roller ball refills because I am more fond of the dark, fuller, markings of the roller ball. Even with the change, I do not find myself coming back to this pen.There is give on the very end of the pen, on the writing tip. This makes it a bit less accurate when writing as there will be about half a millimeter of give before the pen moves. Another issue is the weight of the pen. This pen's center of gravity is near the back. I am assuming this is because the body is made from bamboo. This center of gravity is generally uncomfortable for the writer and I've taken a bit of time to really get used to it.Overall, I find that the pen is not that great for the price. Even after changing the refill, I expected more for the price I paid.

This seems to be a nice pen with good weight. Packaging seems legit. My reason for 3 stars is that it is described incorrectly- it says 'Rollerball' in the title listing but it comes with a Retro 51 Easy Flow 9000 which is a ballpoint refill. Its not a huge deal but I specifically wanted a rollerball, now I have to buy separate refills...

The bamboo feels great in your hand. I'd give the pen a five, but I hate the ballpoint ink refill it comes with.Once I replace it with a liquid ink rollerball refill, I'm sure the pen will become a favorite.

Love this pen... But -1 star because the tip feels inset too far.

Very nice pen. I have several Retro 51 pens and this is my new favorite. The bamboo gives it a feel that you just don't want to put it down. I suspect I will wear it quite a bit just sort of fiddling with it as it feels so organic!Highly recommended product!

This is a solid pen that is a bit on the heavy side, but just the way I like it. The twist action is smooth and solid, but not too light. As far as Retro 51 Tornado pens go this one is very understated and that's fine by me too.Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful pen... very upscale and classy. Great value. Within the span of two years, I've purchased three other Retro 51 Tornado pens in giraffe, zebra and leopard prints. The bamboo pen is my favorite by far. I swear ... I am not a pen collector :-).

I discovered a less-expensive hobbies to engage in. I enjoy well-made writing implements, and the Retro 1951 pens are satisfying. Well-made and well-balanced, the pen is a joy to use. I also like the roller-ball cartridge.
