This book is full of facts they should (but don't) teach in schools... Like they bore kids to death memorizing stuff but don't give them the little gems that make experts smile, but in this book you get the gems and the smiles and they come straight from the experts. Really great job by the authoress keeping the language friendly and the tone teasing and fun. You will NOT be handed a LIST of facts. You will guided by a very smart person through information mountains straight to the most amazing facts. Just the diamonds and emeralds. Skip the boring stuff in your textbook and just read this! Your science professor doesn't know half of the factoids in here!You can stump your PHD friend with most of this (nobody knows most of this stuff!), and even if you only have ten minutes to read, you cannot open to a page that won't keep you reading and smiling!

This book is chock full of interesting scientific facts. If you learned even a fraction of the information contained in this book you would have dozens of conversation starters in your back pocket. Or, just keep this book in your back pocket. For example, let's say you are at a party sitting in front of a bowl of nuts.Did you know that all nuts are fruits? However almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, and pistachios are actually fruit seeds, not nuts. And Peanuts are legumes, not nuts. So there you go, you just won that $20 bet that there are no nuts in the bowl.This is a fun compendium of interesting facts for people of all ages. I think kids will especially love it.

Purchased for my 7yo who loves random facts, it's me who loves this book! It's filled with useful yet odd facts that you can pick up and just open anywhere and read. Love it!

I found this book not only fun to read but also full of really interesting information. I loved the fact that it was in alphabetical order and will use it as a reference whenever I feel the need to understand a bit of scientific trivia.

Have a scientific friend great book

Got busted at work reading the book. Solved the problem by going in at 5 AM to get in some reading time. This book is not a one time through read and forget. I plan on going through several times.
