Superb Audio Quality For AVIC
I have an AVIC BT-Z110 and this cable is necessary if you want the best audio quality. I tried the apple cable and an headphone extension. The quality of the signal sounded worse than FM stereo and my music is all of the highest quality mp3's. You need this cable because it supplies line level audio to the head unit for amplification. The Ipod cable and a headphone extension will degrade the signal because of the headphone amplifier in the ipod, which amplifies the signal, sends it out to the head unit, which amplifies it again. A second amplification degrades sound quality.I also made the mistake of getting a Cables To Go 35508 4ft iPod-Compatible 3.5mm to Dock Connector Audio Cable. This cable had the Ipod dock connector on one end and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the other. Worthless as the head unit did not recognize the ipod. This Pioneer cable solved everything. Pure CD quality sound, because it bypasses the ipod headphone amp, and I have full Ipod controls from the head unit. The cable is expensive, but short of making your own cable, I don't think there is a substitute.

Works, but why both connections, Pioneer??
I'm confused. Why does everyone else's iPod interface cable (whether proprietary or Apple standard) work just fine with only the USB connection, but not Pioneer's? the female end of the data cable coming off the head unit (AVIC Z-110BT in my case) includes an analog mini stereo jack (for standard "AUX" input) and a USB connection. The iPod cable must be connected to both, leaving you with a large, thick, unsightly pair of wires hanging out in your vehicle where one could just as easily have sufficed.I swear it's like they got the idea ten minutes before going to market with their first iPod-compatible head unit and they haven't revisited the design since. Maybe they don't want to pay for whatever software lisence Apple imposes on developers to code their interface for pure USB connection?? Beats me. It just seems kinda sloppy on their part.

Excellent Cable. Highly recommend.
The picture of this cable shows the short version of the cable. When I bought it the cable was very long, actually longer than needed. This is good, more is better when it comes to cables. The shipping was FAST. I think I got it in 2 days. That was nice. The video quality is great. Very clear. I think some people who say the video quality is not very good may not have a system that has a decent resolution. The sound quality is so much better than the regular cable. It gets rid of that digital high pitch sounds and make it sound more full. When I listen to music now, its harder to tell where the speakers are because the sound just comes from everywhere.Great product.

iPod Nano video
I have a Pioneer AVH P4200DVD in my 02 Altima. Initially I was going to play only music from my Nano but I later decided to also play movies to avoid having DVDs in my car. Besides, I stopped buying DVDs when I moved to Blue-rays. The cable is needed to play movies from the Nano thru the HU; and so far, it works perfectly. I gave it 4 stars because the cable is short as other have noted. Fortunately for me it was perfect for my KUDA custom mount.

Did you want to watch video from your iPod?
The TRRS connector (the funky headphone plug with 3 rings around it, not just 2) pipes video from your iPod/iPhone to the pioneer head unit.!*You must have this cable in order to watch video from your iPod. *! A standard $5 iPod cable that you purchase online somewhere will not give you the connections you need to make video work.So I agree that the need for this cable is "lame", but the ability that it gives you is not.Worth the money in my opinion.

Nice addition for ipod/iphone owners.
I purchased this item for use with my Pioneer BT3300 headunit. If you want to play video content from your ipod or iphone this is a must have item. The regular data cable which comes with your apple device will work great for audio but if you want to play video on your Pioneer headunit you will need this cable to do so. The build quality is nice and its a long enough not to be stressed when in use. For less than $20.00 it's a good deal.

WOWOW
Heh, didn't think I needed this until I tried it, now I couldn't live without it. You really hate to spend $40-$50 bucks on a cable, but when you hear the difference and gain the ability to stream video from your iPod to your Pioneer deck, you'll be glad you made the plunge. You do not have to be an audiophile to notice the differences between the sound quality of this cable and the regular iPod USB cable. If you're still using the USB cable that came with the iPod, you don't know what you're missing! The only complaint I have is the length. FREAKING SHORT! I ran mine to my glovebox. Good luck going any further without extensions of some sort.

Good Cable With A Few Minor Flaws
This is a great cable but it does have a few minor flaws. Its a little short so you better have a nook or holder close to your radio. Also The Laynard that holds the dock connector cap on is as thin as a human hair. I'm just wainting for it break. Other than that it does everything I want it to too - charges, music, and videos from my iphone and ipod. Plus amazon has it at the cheapest price around.

Was soll ich sagen ?
