SARK (Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy) illustrated every individual letter inside the book (she gives us a peek into her creative process by noting she handwrites at least 1,000 pages for each of her books).This is the sort of writer’s book that is short enough so as not to make a writer feel guilty to be reading but long enough that it inspires her to get back to back to her notebook or keyboard.It’s filled with practical tips, the kind of ideas that make you believe there are stories around every corner and truly thirsty reams of paper. But even better are her encouraging words that every solitary writer who works as she looks longingly out a nearby window needs to hear:“You dare to fill the world with your enthusiasm, perspective and experiences, … to write the rage and ordinary and dumb details, … to be seen as flawed, … to be viewed and projected upon as wildly successful and ingenious … how dare you?”

I'm a writer by passion and this book gives inspiration to the writer in anyone. SARK is an amazing author. She is so creative and original, it is difficult to describe her books. They are mixtures of drawings, quotes, stories, and metaphors. They are unique and they are inspirational in so many ways. If you have never read one of her books, but are looking for some encouragement for the creativity within you to flourish, I highly recommend this book to you. It will unleash the writer within anyone. SARK is not the type of author that everybody is going to like. Her books are not regular books. They do not have a typical beginning or ending, and their content, as I said, is a mixture of pictures and stories and quotes. But they are beautiful, poetic, refreshing, and encouraging. I recommend all of them to anyone who wants to try something new for a breath of fresh air. She will make you want to live in a little cottage and paint and draw and write poetry as she does. And she will make you dream.

This particular book written in 2008, exhibits the unique way Sark conveys information. I happen to enjoy her style very much, in fact, owning most of her collection. A few minor complaints involve the excessively long introduction, the addition of two identical quotes on separate pages apparently not caught by the copy editors, and the running together of some lettering, which made it difficult to read in a few places. Overall, writers or those contemplating the writing life will enjoy the prompts and the lovely enthusiasm Sark imparts in her motivational approach. Reading her work stirs creativity and this is definitely another book that promises to be referenced many times.

I've read SARK ever since a dear friend introduced me to her in 2002. And she never disappoints. Since I'm a writer, you can imagine my joy when I stumbled across this one. She hits on every challenge that faces a writer and through her humor and gentle grace shows how to overcome. I loved this book and will definitely buy more copies as gifts. SARK is such an amazing, gifted person. I love her work and I love her passion. She has taught me how to be a better person, a better writer, and to embrace every facet of life be it in good times or bad.

When I first picked it up, I had a hard time putting it down until I had finished it.As well as being visually appealing and infused with playful humor, this book bursts with practical and simple exercises for the writer in overcoming creative blockages. Particularly inspiring are the portraits of other writers who share their insights on the creative process. Finally, the lists of writing resources at the end are worth the price of the book alone."Juicy Pens, Thirsty Paper" will easily become a valuable tool for any new or veteran writer. I highly recommend it.

Once again SARK has created a book that is great for us grown up kids. As always, I love the look and feel of it. It's not only colorful and fun to read, it's easy for my visually impaired eyes to read without getting tired. Although I like the inspirational part of it, I think there was too much pep talk and not enough action. Someone said the book is pretty much an introduction to itself. I agree. I like most of the exercises and may do them, but I wish it were more of a real workbook. I just don't think there are enough real exercises in it for that. I didn't know whether to give this book 3 or 4 stars. (I almost never give anything 5 stars.)

The SARK book, Juicy Pen, Thirsty Paper has brought me a new creative spark. I always enjoy wrting but have lost interest over the years. I had the priviledge of meeting SARK. She is an inpiration and a wonderful mentor. (and she's cute to);-)I don't want to go on to much it will go to her head.This book, Juicy Pen, Thirsty Paper is a great guide, both practical and inspirational, for anyone who wants to get in touch with their creative side. We all have our stories, I thank SARK for being the guide to help me tell mine.

I haven't even gotten all the way through this easy to read and wonderful book of SARK's. I've been savoring every page. I used some of her exercises in my journal, and I started writing "pieces," based of her inspiring words. Then I couldn't stop writing. This book has become my personal coach. I'm not surprised to have enjoyed this as I enjoy all of SARK's beautiful books! This one is particularly useful as it contains SO many practical prompts and exercises to get the creative juices flowing. Whether you consider yourself a writer or not, you will not fail to be inspired.

I love Sark's work and I was not disappointed. I love the vibrancy, the colours, the sheer energy that radiates from the page. This is a great book to get you writing

This book was a quick read, and opened me up to looking at my world like a writer.I was inspired to write about anything and I started to explore my options about creativity and inspiring my life proactively... SARK is awesome.
