It said it was fully assembled. when it arrived it was a put together kit very disappointing. Especially for someone that doesn't know the first thing about putting one together that's why I purchased it

A Great Little Light
Really not sure why the negative reviews. The word "kit" is used many times in the description not to mention the last sentence which states it requires assembly and soldering. I will ding them, EVR for taking a long time to deliver but the when the KIT arrived it was in good order and everything was included. They also included a hand written note explaining the delay. It is an excellent intro to surface mount soldering and contrary to what the "answer" says, it does not even in the slightest require professional equipment to assemble. My old Radio Shack 15W iron was perfect and it all the parts went on fine. What it DOES require is knowledge and patience. Watch Dave Jone's video on surface mount soldering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=588iV07nEdM. Once finished I put a half dead battery in it and fired it up. It ran for a while then started the pulse, like a strobe due to the weakness of the battery. All you have to do then is turn down the pot and it will smooth it out with a slight decrease in brightness and run for much longer. The Cree 1W LED is fantastic and I really like this light. Knowing that I assembled it from a bag of parts give me even more satisfaction. Try it, you'll like it.

Hey cool!
I am ashamed to say that this looks to be the first joule thief circuit I have seen that uses a 555 timer IC. Now I want to build my own.5 stars for the idea!
