How much weight can it safely hold?

It can support 90 pounds safely. No sitting on the folding table to ensure safty please.

Can it handle the heat if I put a small grill on it?

Yes, it can handle the heat with confidence

Is it sturdy enough for a 15 lb sewing machine?

It is a sturdy table, but too low to work on a sewing machine. We use it as a side table between our camping chairs.

Redcamp small aluminum folding table 2 foot, 24" camp table - is this a reliable and sturdy table? do you recommend?

It is reliable. As for sturdy, I think there was weight spec, which I think was 30 lbs. It's been very convenient for me. Compact and easy to set up. If you're not planning on loading it with heavy pots of water, it's a great little item. If you need something that you can put heavy materials on, I'd look for something else.
