Boye makes my favorite hooks. Can't go wrong here. If you are new to crochet and wonder what the difference is between these aluminum hooks and the Susan Bates aluminum hooks: Boye hooks are narrow neck--meaning they narrow right before the head of the hook--and Susan Bates are straight neck, straight up and down from hook to end. Boye hooks are rounded on top and Susan Bates are very slightly pointed on top. Boye is the OG of crochet hooks. They're the ones our great-grandmothers used. There are is a wide range of fat-handled, "ergonomic" hooks these days, but for fine thread work such as shawls and other lacy items I truly prefer the skinny, old-fashioned aluminum hooks.

Boye is my preferred brand of hooks. They are a comfortable weight and never hang up on the yarn. They also fit my hand comfortably. I have a new set of the ergonomically designed hooks and a converter for my old hooks, but I find myself going back to the Boys aluminum. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys crocheting.

Easy to hold and they feel good in hand.

As someone who teaches crochet, these hooks are my favorite for students to learn with. The hooks are not too sharply cut that they easily split the yarn; the metal slides thru the stitches easily and the handles are long enough for old hands to hold the hooks comfortably. The 3 hook sizes are the most used for the yarns available for the students. I highly recommend Boye hooks to all my students.

Item description says the ‘J’ hook is supposed to be 6mm. The package I received has a 5.85mm J hook. Should have listened to all of the previous reviews. Listing should be properly updated!!

These are the best to work with. I am forever misplacing mine, so I got them as backup.

Purchased just to try out as recommended by a friend. Didn't like as much as I thought I would. Crocheting not as smooth as other brands I own.

Love the Boye crochet hooks but I thought I was getting an 8mm hook not H-8 (which is 5mm) - so I found this misleading. As I already have these crochet hooks and have been unable to get the 8mm at a store near me!

I have always used Boye and love them. These do not have the same quality as I am accustom to with this brand.
