Magical illustrations
This is one of the nicest illustrated children’s books I’ve seen. The illustrations are magical and are 3D (pop up). Something I’ve never seen before is even the back of each illustration has been drawn as well and not just left blank. Lovely story as well. Enchanting. Would highly recommend.

Magical
This is an absolutely enchanting book. The artwork and the writing are both stunning, with so much beautiful detail on every page. It has a wonderful story and a truly magical atmosphere.I can't wait to read this to my small nieces. I know they'll love the poem, adore the dragon, and gasp at the incredible pop ups. I'm pretty sure this book is destined to be read by them again and again and again.I can't recommend it enough!

Rhythmic but not rhyming, great pop up pics.
I found this simple lyrical story about a little girl and a dragon both soothing and irritating. There is a simple storyline: girl goes sailing at night, gets caught in a storm, meets a dragon, has a ride around the world, goes to sleep, and lo, it is all a dream.Although the pop-up pages are masterfully created and beautifully magical, the story's rhythmic verses totally lend themselves to rhyme. Except.....it DOESN'T rhyme. What could and should be a totally satisfying read is spoilt by the anticlimactic non- rhyming lines. For example:" at first all was calm and we bobbed along Then the wind whipped into a storm. The water frothed, it foamed and roared And a dragon appeared in the skies." (would have been great to rhyme with "storm")." I fell asleep to the song of the wind. When I woke, I was back in my bed.A tiny dragon was by my side with eyes like a midnight sky."(really needed to rhyme with "bed"!!!)Although it is clearly aimed at younger readers, there are a couple of phrases a small child might not understand: "we ringed the moon" and "I trawled the sky for stars". It would seem that these are included just help the rhythm or rhyme (except that there is no rhyme). Ok, I do get that not all poetry is rhyming, but something for small children, with such obviously rhythmic verses, especially to a child's ear, sounds discordant if it does not rhyme. For me this ruined what should have been a totally sweet, magical book.
