Great singer ..

Nolwenn won Star Academy 2d season (equivalent to Fame Academy). Her voice and technical skills made her the vocal coach pet. The 15 other contestants reckon she had the best voice of the gang. She seduced several serious people in the business, even some reluctant to real TV concepts.Laurent Voulzy, one of the most reserved among French artists, wrote her the luminous "Suivre une étoile" (follow a star), Lara Fabian gave her "Inévitablement", a typical Lara Fabian's ballad. One of my favourite sons is "Une femme cachée", elegantly written by Daniel Lavoie: "one woman hidden inside of me, one woman ready for all fights would like that when she'll wake up, you'd hear her voice and you'd be there to open her your arms". It's a beautiful song about leaving adolescence and becoming a woman (Nolwenn was 20).Pascal Obispo is producing most of the album, bringing with him some of his usual songwriters. Lionel Florence wrote the power ballad "Cassé" (broken), the first single about a lost love (some saw an allusion to Nolwenn's dad who left the house when she was 10). It went to n°1. He also wrote "14 Février": "There are days when gods forget about you, when some memories become heavy, days you shouldn't live or you should put between parenthesis, just one day I erased forever, February 14". Finally he collaborated to "Rayer l'émotion inutile" (delete the useless emotion) with Hocine Hallaf, one of the mid-tempo songs of the album I like a lot."Finir contre toi" gives Nolwenn the possibility to show some sensuality and it fits her warm voice very well: "I will never tell you wher my desires take me, how much my body hates me when I destroy those dreams; he who feels the warmth of your hidden looks, who burns every hour spent next to you; if you knew (...) the battle I fight not to end up close to you". It is another of my favourites."Vu d'en haut" has a strong chorus that makes it a real pop anthem but the evident construction might quickly tire the listener: "Seen from above there is only air and water, there is no chains or no bars, seen from above, a life without frontiers and without flags; all I see is the light of some torchs, seen from above". "Etre une femme" has the same type of structure: "To be a woman on earth, be a queen or be a mother, or barefoot without prayers, we're always lonely; be a woman on earth is love or hell, it's sowing without knowing it the beginning of a story". "Jure-moi" is another song to show Nolwenn's power vocals skills. "Ce qu'il nous faudrait" (what we would need" is a sweet and tender album filler, used as b-side for "Cassé". The song is about wishing a better life and better understanding between humans. "Qui mieux que moi" (who better than me will know how to love you) sounds as well much like a filler and closes the album on a quiet note.Knowing that Nolwenn was only given one month to choose the songs and record them, while rehearsing for the Star Academy tour with 7 other contestants, I can only applause at the effort. She cleverly chose among what was proposed, the producers did a good job and she avoids falling into the "screaming from the top of my lungs" type of vocals even in the power ballads. Her next step will be to release a less formatted and more personal second album (due September 2005) to stand up against the numerous French divas of the moment. She will also have to learn to communicate her passion to her public. Seeing her singing live Tori Amos (Crucify), Sarah McLachlan (I will remember you) or "Kissing you" alone with her piano promises the best.

For a 22 year old Nolwenn has a mature voice and good range.A very pleasant album to listen to. Casse and Etre une femme are very powerful tracks. Recommended - I will be interested to see abd hear her second album when it arrives on the shelves.

Nolwenn Leroy is an artist who has a lot of talent!His album is a miracle...

Toujours pas plus de Nolwenn Leroy malgré les prédictions évidentes .Mais comment condamner un tel talent , une telle voix à ne pas s'épanouir sur les ondes . Messieurs les promoteurs , vous êtes ignobles mais ouvraient toutes grandes vos oreilles , votre coeur et vos deux sous de poix chiches de cervelle et permettez à un large public qui attend depuis trop longtemps de pouvoir enfin entendre Nolwenn Leroy à la voix si extraordinaire , il faut être bouchés pour ne pas s'en rendre compte et en tout cas méprisables.titiouaf .

donc le premier album de Nolwenn a la sortie de la star ac, le tube "cassé" , pas forcément la meilleure, que des bons morceaux qui présagent de la suite...

Belle voix et beau texte, je m'envole....

Depuis ses début, j'apprécie cette chanteuse sans prétention qui fait du bon travail dans chacun de ses CD. Une voix fort mélodieuse et de bonne qualité, avec ici des chansons qui lui ressemblent. A découvrir.

j'ai offert ce CD a mon mari qui est fan de Nolwenn( il aime moins ses chanson bretonne).mais aime beaucoup celui ci.

ノルウｴン・ルマゲルスという本名らしいがブルターニュ地方の音楽の紹介を拝見したが、最近ではブレルの「マルキーズ」やバルバラの「いつ帰ってくるの？」を歌っている姿、またアズナヴールと「死ぬほど愛して」をデュエットしている姿も見られた。エディト・ピアフをテーマとしたショーもあった。米のハミルトン高校での留学で英語を学び、ヴァイオリンを幼いころから弾き、クラッシックの歌唱も学び、大学では法律学も学んだという。このアルバムでは収録されていないが英語での歌唱もなかなか素晴らしい。冒頭のＣＡＳＳＥも近寄りがたいほど力強い。ブルターニュ出身といえばアランバリエールが日本では知られているが、現在彼女の名前を知っている人は少ないだろう。このアルバムでも彼女のファンならいざ知らず日本人でこれらの歌を親しみ理解するのは確かに難しいかもしれない。但し、彼女はシンガーソングライターであるので彼女自身の言葉と音楽でどういう世界が広がるのか期待は計り知れない。バルバラがブラッサンスやブレルを歌い、ミレイユマチューがピアフを歌った後彼女たちの素晴らしい開花が予測できない程期待に満ちたものであった。このアルバムの収録された歌の出来不出来はともかくどれも完璧に歌いこなしているし感情も素晴らしく表現されている。残念ながら自作ではない収録の楽曲には少し退屈した。仏語の特性が活かされていないし、曲も面白くなく、歌詞も感動的とは言えない。彼女の歌唱力ならアズナヴールの「ＵＮＥ　ＶＩＥ　Ｄ’ＡＭＯＵＲ」やクラッシックの基礎があるならベルエポックのアルルカン、トセリのセレナーデなどもう少し音楽のスケールの大きさを歌わせるものでも余裕をもって歌い上げることが出来ると思う。男歌も好んで取り入れられていることを思えば「ラ・メール」やブレルを取り上げるならＮＥ　ＭＥ　ＱＩＴＴＥ　ＰＡＳやバリエールのＬＡ　ＴＥＲＲＥ　ＴＯＵＲＮＥＲＡ　ＳＡＮＳ　ＮＯＵＳ等若々しさを強調した楽曲のほうが良いと思う。ブレルの死を意識したマルキーズや倦怠期の年老いた恋人たちの歌や「死ぬほど愛して」は不健康さが合わないと思う。いずれにしても彼女の歌の才能がうかがえるアルバムである。

Beautiful, bought as gift for an elderly friend from France and she looks veld it.

I bought this because there was a research project that said the music had therapeutic value. I think I was led astray by a fan. No matter... Nolwenn is fine... not my kind of music but it works.

I love listening to this beautiful singer! I have translated many of her songs on this album to English and learned more French along the way.

It is ok, arrived on time and i enjoy having it.
