Solid rack
I bought this for the back of my subaru because i didnt want to buy a really expensive rack but didnt want those cheap thin gauge tubular steel bike racks that collapse with more than 1.5 bikes on them. This thing is rock solid. Ive put 1 adult and 2 older childrens mountain bikes on this at the same time and feel confident it will not crumple on the first hard bump like some other inexpensive racks. It has a anti rattle hitch bolt that screws into the rack and works very well. Sadly it has no security features, so i may end up drilling another hole for a locking bolt. There is also no security up top, but found i was able to route a sturdy bike cable around everything to make it secure. The knob and plate design works pretty well for bigger than normal and oddly shaped cross bars and holds bikes well. This rack does not fold down like some others but i didnt need it to personally. For anyone interested though I am not able to open the rear hatch on my subaru forester. This is a strong recommendation from me if you can live without certain features.

Excellent customer service
Box was pretty beat up when received. Not the shippers fault. UPS was the culprit. However a vinyl holder fell out of the broken box. One quick email to their customer service and Fed Ex was at my door in a couple of days with the replacement parts. Great service. Product is sturdy, and well built. Took my fifth wheel down a long bumpy gravel road to get to campsite. No problems. Of course I bungeed the bikes to keep them from floppy around and getting beat up. Wish there was a lock hole on both ends of the top rail...thus the 4 stars on the lock feature

Almost 5 stars
I like this bike rack! But, the hitch locking pin is partially threaded & was sent without the locking cap! Therefore, I was forced to use another pin that accepted a standard clip through the end of pin hole that the original didn’t have. I thought about just drilling an “end hole” to accept my “stay” pin, but I thought I might still be able to buy a key locking end cap. I was unsuccessful with the company as they wanted a photo of the box that it came in & I’d already thrown it away. Frustrating AF. All in all, it’s a good bike rack.

NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Bought as used like new(may not be in orginal packaging. Arrived in original box however obviously had been opened taped back up and returned to Amazon. Problem is the repackaging was not the best and I got a bike rack that looks great and seems like it would be very sturdy, however it's missing the hardware to assemble it and the proprietary threaded hitch pin to attach to your receiver. Contacted SWAGMAN customer support and through a long email exchange received an email with an order # to call in talk to customer service. Problem is it only has 4 bolts no nuts or washers and doesn't even mention the proprietary hitch pin. Then comes $8 for bolts $15 dollars for flat rate shipping......WTH????

Bought for an RV, and absolutely recommend
We, like many families during COVID, recently bought an RV. I've used a lot of different bike racks over the years, but what I didn't know was that you're not supposed to put a standard bike rack on an RV because there's substantially more sway and bounce. Does this mean that a normal rack will fail? Probably not. Does this mean you should risk it? Probably not. And since we were planning on loading four bikes on the rack, we decided not to risk it.This Swagman rack is a monster. It's big. It's heavy. It's two pieces. It doesn't have any fancy features like tilt or fold away (but it's on the back of an RV, so it really doesn't need them). It has sufficient space for four bikes, which include two adult MTBs or road bikes, and two kids 20" MTBs. The bike locking mechanism is a padded steel plate that lays over the tops tubes of the bike, and then is secured with three screw down caps. In addition, there are holes in the plates that line up, and that I put a heavy weight padlock through. That way, if by some weird confluence of events, *all three* of the screw-downs loosened up and fell off, the plate could still be secured by the lock. It'll mount to a standard 2" receiver, and it uses an anti-rattle pin. The anti-rattle pin is, honestly, the only thing I'm not sure I like. It works by using a threaded pin that screws into the rack. This creates friction between the hitch and the hitch receiver, which prevents the rack from rattling as you drive. This, to be honest, seems pointless on a rack that is the back of an RV or camper, since you're not likely to hear it anyway. There are two downsides to this design. 1) You need to have a 22mm wrench available if you want to remove the pin (for example, if you want to take the rack on or off). 2) You cannot use any other kind of pin because the threads in the rack are too narrow to take any other kind of pin. That being said, other than having to have an extra wrench in the RV, I haven't had any problem with the pin coming loose while driving, so I can't complain too much.Overall, this is an easy recommendation if you're looking for a relatively cheap way to carry a family's worth of bikes, especially if you're in an RV or camper. This means if you have concerns about someone stealing your rack, you're pretty much out of luck and have to hope they don't have access to a 22mm wrench (which isn't unreasonable). Swagman does sell a locking anti-rattle pin, but it costs about twice as much as a regular locking pin.

Sturdy Bike Rack but could use improvement
Needs additional holes drilled in base so you have options as far as setting pin in base plate. Comes with only one hole so depending upon the base plate, as in my case, not enough of the bike rack inserts into base plate making the bike rack unstable. The result being the bikes jump around and there is significant pressure placed on the arm of the bike rack.

Happy with purchase
We have a Ford F150 truck and want to take two or three bikes with us to ride different places. We chose this rack because it didn’t have special features. It’s very simple like the bike rack we had years ago. We just want to put it on the back of the truck, hang the bikes and go! My husband was able to put it together easily. It’s heavy but I can lift it into the hitch on the truck. We took it for our first adventure and it held the bikes securely and we didn’t hear any rattles or have any problems with it. We are happy with the rack.

Heavy duty bike rack
Easy to put together and you can tell it's a great quality. Really nice for a family as there are 4 bike slots.

Great bike just need to modify the hitch pin
It is a great bike rack really sturdy drove 1700kms with it in one trip and nothing was bent or loose the instructions were straight forward. The only downfalls are you need a tourque wrench to tighten the bolts properly which I had thank God and you have to modify the hole by removing the threaded nut and making it a 5/8 hole for a hitch pin that won't come loose other than that it's good bike rack but it only holds certain styles of bike

Does not stand by their warranty
Company does not stand by their warranty.I purchased this product as it was supposed to be RV rated.Last week we were heading home merging onto the highway and I saw my bike sliding onto the highway into traffic.I contacted the company as they have a warranty process.I sent pictures and demonstrated I had well above recommended clearance stated in manual and followed all install set up and distribution as stated in manual.Company refused my claim claiming my bike was too low.Bike was half a foot above the company clearance recommendation.Company does not stand by their warranty and product.I would not recommend buying this.

Easy to assemble. Easy to install. But if
I like the bike rack however getting all 4 bikes into this rack caused me to crack a few beers. It’s easier to figure women out then attempt this alone, or intoxicated. Mind you, it was my first attempt at it, and what ever goes as planned in your first attempt?
