Completely Covered in Oil
I own dozens of Kershaw knives. Both made in the USA and overseas. Several were purchased here on Amazon, but I've never come across this problem. The entire knife is covered in oil. The blade, the liner lock, even the g-10 handle. It can't even be held without covering one's hands in oil. It's like someone dropped it in a vat and then put it back in the box. The inside of the plastic bag is wet and filthy.I don't know the cause or who's to blame, but I purchased this from White Mountain Knives.

Nice blade -- good EDC choice
I initially purchased this knife because I like the modified sheepsfoot profile. Works well for EDC as its a good cutter with enough tip for opening boxes easily. Blade steel spring-assist (works smoothly), made of 8Cr13MoV and holds an edge well. Some of you may not like the somewhat thick belly profile, but if you're on the fence -- I recommend trying it. This gives you a substantial feeling knife with jimping on the top for good thumb pressure. The blade is a bit fine for heavy work -- but note that I've used this one quite a bit (6 months) and have seen no chipping or other issues whatsoever. Overall, the knife is quite thin and comes with a deep carry clip so it disappears into your pocket (in a good way). Unlike several of my other EDCs, I often forget I'm carrying this one. For lefty's like me a HUGE plus is the clip is reversible (you'll need a T6 bit though). Another minor point on the clip, the turned up tip is a bit rounded so it doesn't do quite as much damage if I accidentally brush up against something. On the flip side: While I'm a big fan of how thin the knife is and how easily it sits in the pocket, and I have no real issues with handling the knife; the scales have only linear texture and come off feeling 'plasticky'. Overall, this is a nit -- but some will have a bad reaction to it. I don't notice after awhile but, if I really cared about this knife, its a good candidate for some custom scales... So, why don't I -- well, its the last issue and the only significant one I have with the knife. Its a frame lock which allows the knife to be so thin in the pocket. But the lock is a bit too flexible and/or thin at the tip. When bearing down on this knife, your fingers will compress the lock to the point it crosses UNDER the blade base and sticks on the other side. Since you compressed it there with some force, it can be a bit hard to free. This happens almost every time I do anything requiring heavy cutting pressure. I want to be clear: this knife has been my EDC for several months and I like it. For the moment, I'm putting up with this design flaw. Its not a killer, but you should consider how you will use your knife and whether this will bother you.Overall: Recommended. Its a really, really nice EDC at this price point. I would have said 'great EDC' and 'Highly Recommended' if it weren't for that frame lock.
