Good starting point!
I injured my shoulder at work and was diagnosed with impingement and bursitis. The physical therapist recommended that I get a roller and this book to help strengthen my core and stretch my muscles around my shoulder. So I got a J Fit roller, and this book. I started on all the exercises he tagged. After a week I felt a difference in my injury - movement was less painful. What I didn't expect was what I got this morning - a lower number on the scale. That was a pleasant surprise! Even after my shoulder heals I intend on keeping up with this kind of exercise - it's easy and doesn't take hours on end. You don't feel like you're working out at all.This book is well written with photos that show what position you should be in at each stage of each exercise, plus a written description of each stage. There is a chapter in the front on basic positioning for beginners - it is very helpful! There are chapters to help general fitness, posture and sports - like skiing, basketball and martial arts. There is a lot of material here for such a small book - dozens and dozens of exercises. This is a great book for the price and I highly recommend it, whether you have an injury, want to improve in a sport or just want to strengthen and tone.

Excellent variety
I've been into rollers for several years now but never picked up a book on it before this.This has moves I've never seen done before. All of the roller movements shown in this book will not only give you the best massage of your life but strengthen and tone you at the same time. Every muscle group in the core of the body is covered here. On off days from my usual strength training I do these and get a gentle workout.These are not for beginners or those who are out of shape. If you look at the photos on the front cover, you can see that it takes some strength and flexibility to do these.To get into these positions and then to roll your body back and forth on a hard foam roller takes muscles. Sometimes it can get downright painful.This book also has other types of workouts that are good. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to discover the roller, or learn some new techniques for it.

Great book
This book gives some great directions for some stretches using the foam roller. Not the book's fault that I am in too much pain to do very many of them at all...especially the one I purchased the book for...the stretch right on the cover. I've only managed doing it one time without lots of pain...but that is down to me, not the book. I'm hoping with work, I'll be able to do more of the stretches.

Good guidebook
I like how the book is easy to follow with sections to stretch if you play certain sports (i.e. golf, swimming, martial arts.)It has lots of photos that illustrate positions and exercises which is what I was looking for.The only disappointment is that all photos are in a somewhat faded black and white, not in easy to see full color. Looks like an inexpensive reproduction. This may keep the price low, but makes it a little hard to see. Not impossible to see, but I feel that in this day and age, the photos should have been in color, or at least a clearer black and white, and I would have happily paid the upgrade price.The bottom line: It is ok as it addresses my main need.

Lovin' my Foam Roller Guide
I was encourage by my family to get a foam roller because I do not have a gym membership and have migraines and other typical body ailments. Since I had no one to show me how to use the roller I went online to get ideas. I found this book and looked through it online. I knew I had to have it! When I received it in the mail, it was even better! Now my sons, who are in sports and my husband, are addicted to using it too!! The book is small and to the point. Very easy to use, it has pictures that show the specific workout area, and also give explicit directions.Love it!

Great book with lots of information
This is a very comprehensive and useful book. I had used a foam roller at my physical therapist office, so I wanted one for home. I did order this book so I could utilize the roller the best possible. This is a great reference and easy to use. I recommend it highly!

the best foam roller book
I discovered foam rollers during physical therapy for my lower back and decided to purchase the roll and half for myself to work at home. my therapist showed me how to use it for crunches, lower back stretches, calf stretches, balancing and massage but this workbook takes it to a new level. the photos are not the best but they do show you what to do and how to do it correctly. I use a high density black foam roll and have only great things to say when I follow the workbook and stretch. I highly recommend this book because it's versatile and will benefit any level from beginner to advanced.

Don't bother, get a DVD instead or look for another workbook!
I ordered this booklet along with a foam roller & received the booklet today. At first glance I was surprised at the quality of the paper & printing & when I flicked through it it was even worse!It is printed very poorly, the pictures are in black & white which may have been OK if they were printed a bit darker or on better quality paper.As it is, they are so faint, it would be an effort to follow the exercises using the images & really not worth it.I am returning it right away & getting a DVD set instead.

Good Guide to Foam Roller
Nice, easy to follow, structured according to body part and sport and easy to follow. The best part being that each exercise is supported by pictures.

Gem of a book
Ths book is a gem, small format (easy to read when you need to verify something in the middle of an exercise) yet quite comprehensive with lots of exercises and picture made me use my roller with good results.

utilissimo!!
Ho comprato un rullo per gli esercizi, soffrendo spesso di dolori lombari e cervicali da accumulo di stress. Ho guardato più libri del genere per trovare istruzioni su come usarlo al meglio. Questo è l'unico che ho trovato che dopo una breve introduzione è completamente illustrato esercizio per esercizio. La parte ancora più utile poi è rappresentata dalle tabelle in cui viene suggerito quali esercizi eseguire ai fini di ottimizzare una parte del corpo, o risolvere un problema specifico, o come migliorare il proprio corpo in relazione a determinati sport.

Gut erläutert
Wenn man noch nie einen Foam Roller verwendet hat, ein wenig Englisch kann (Schulenglisch ist ausreichend) und sich die Bilder anschaut, ist ein gutes Workout möglich. Achtung, es werden auch Übungen mit einer längshalbierten Rolle vorgestellt.
