Color:Dalmation Jasper There’s nothing quite like a Skull & Tones unique guitar pick. These are some of the most beautiful limited edition guitar picks on and of the earth. These picks are 100% functional with both acoustic and electric guitars, and will bring on a new dimension to one’s playing and tonal quality. They’re painstakingly beveled, so these will not break or destroy your strings. Though they’re stunning to behold, they are meticulously hand-carved and beveled along the edges. Whether you’re a guitarist who plays jazz, blues, rock ’n roll, or heavy metal, these picks will give you a new playing experience both live and in the studio. On that note, these picks are all approx 3mm thick, so they provide no flex whatsoever. They are considered extra heavy. Even if you prefer thinner picks these will be useful for those who are interested in experimenting with your sounds and playing. We currently offer: Sodalite, Gray Agate, Indian Agate, Moss Agate, Lapis Lazuli, Red and White Mother of Pearl, Gray Labradorite and Dalmation Jasper. New materials will be added occasionally in limited amounts. One especially interesting property of these picks are the natural properties they all possess. They are all known to enhance focus, healing, creativity and many of our customers have told us they keep them in their pockets all the time as good luck charms. Aside from using these for playing, they're also highly collectible.

Great for fast picking!
I got these looking for a better pick for my electric mandolin. Most picks aren't sturdy enough and there is drag, sticking to strings, wear down quickly, break, and overall make it more difficult to articulate when playing quickly. There also tends to be a noise when you pick and re-pick an already moving string. Wedges (rubber) get rid of the pick noise but stick badly and wear down very quickly (they're basically an eraser). I like them for slower clean playing but for tremolo they just don't work. I have used dava grip tips which work better than regular picks for my needs but still leave much to be desired (they have a lot of pick noise, are thin which causes your hand to tense, and recoil which causes distortion). I didn't want to try bone or horn picks because I felt that they would have durability issues and would be too flexible (making them about like dava's). I looked at several stone picks and they didn't seem to have consistent cutting, sizing, thickness; no quality control. These picks are consistent in quality. Each is of course different but equally beautiful. They are 3mm which is thicker than what most people are used to, but to me, it's a great size as it is naturally easier to not tense my hand. Even though they are smooth, I haven't experienced any slipping, but if you do, you could easily get grip stickers. The logo is carved into the stone which breaks up the smoothness on the one side (which probably helps with slippage). The re-pick noise is sometimes noticeable especially if you come to the string from further away or from certain angles (think jumping into a double dutch; gotta get that sweet spot). But, this happens with all picks. They do not recoil/bend in anyway. This makes them great for fast clean articulated playing. You will not get distortion or double hit strings with a pick that is itself vibrating. I don't imagine the stone wearing away or breaking anytime soon. Although these may be pricier than other more traditional picks, they'll last you forever.

Skull and Tones picks for all!!!
I HIGHLY recommend ordering the Skull and Tones picks to ALL musicians (amateur, intermediate, professional, touring and/or the weekend warrior)! I've been using Dunlop Tortex .88's for the better part of 18+ years (touring and or otherwise), using the .66's to get more "pluck" with my Tele's. I've always been fascinated by Brian May using a quarter as part of his sound, so I found myself SUPER curious at what tones the different materials might produce. I bought the multi pack (Horn, Bone, and Mother of Pearl) and I'm glad I did! I play in several different types of bands (as well as being a studio session player) and after spending a few hours at home with them I'm really excited for the upcoming shows and sessions!!!Having tested them out on both acoustic and several different electric guitars, all with different gauge strings (Washburn-Med gauge acoustic, Gibson Les Paul Standard/10-52, and Fender Tele/9-42), also with my Jaguar bass (45-105). They each have their own distinct feel (with excellent craftsmanship), and unique tone. On the tonal spectrum (IMO) the Mother of Pearl seems to have the brightest attack across the board, without being overly bright (think more of the Brian May Quarter attack). Imagine if your pick had a tone knob, rolling just a tad darker, and there you have the Bone pick. Very similar in weight/balance to the MOP, but yet its own beast. Finally, roll down that tone knob a bit more and herein lies the tone attack of the Horn pick. It has a much "softer" feel physically, but without being a soft material. The best description of tone is a nice warm/smooth pick attack, almost a "fingerpicking" quality to the attack. My favorites at the moment are the Mother of Pearl and Horn, but love all 3 types!!!Great job to the cats and Skull and Tones for making great products! Any Skull and Tones T's or stickers in the works? I'd gladly help spread the word!!!All the best with all endeavors!Cheers!

Great picks! I play with these regularly
Great picks! I play with these regularly. They're actually starting to wear down. The only things I can be critical about are first, the mother of pearl one is pretty slippery if your fingers get sweat on them. Also, if you a a really hard player, you could end up breaking the pick. I let my cousin use my mother of pearl pick and after one band practice, he tore up the edges of the pick. Now if it was me playing, I'm sure that would've never happened. He plays way too hard to begin with, imo. My favorite is the camel bone pick which wasn't included in this pack, but that one is my favorite, and then the horn pick is great too. it has a great feel to it. I'd say it's worth trying if you are thinking about it. Besides, if you don't like how they sound or feel in your hand, they're still cool items and conversation starters.

Perfect Gift for the musician in your life
I gifted these to a celebrity artist/entertainer that is learning the guitar to be able to add musician to his resume and he absolutely loved them. I am so glad, knowing nothing about guitars myself but knowing him for 20 years and knowing he would love the skulls and the thought at the very least, I chose well and he was happy and surprised how well they sounded. I had no intention of him using them...I didn't even know if he was using guitar picks in his playing already so it was an added bonus that he can actually use them. They arrived just in time when he got into town so even better. I can't thank you enough! Perfect gift for someone I haven't seen in years, but love dearly :)
