Natural Techamor Y201 - Methane Propane Combustible Gas Leak Sniffer Detector with Sound Light Alarm - Portable Gas Sensor Tester

As per the headline - bought after my very old (and much cheaper") pen type failed terminally. Still think it was relatively expensive!

My son purchased an upstairs flat three years ago . Each time I visited him I got a strong smell of gas, I used a unit that I purchased about five years ago but could not find any leak. I purchased this unit and run a test. Sure enough there was a leak found in one of the joints before the meter He informed the Gas Board and they swiftly confirmed the issue and sorted it straight away. In addition the company that I work for has had a similar problem and despite an engineer visiting the site to replace the meter being told he said he could not find any leak. Using this unit I quickly found the leak which was coming from the gas entry point at floor level. A big digging job needed

I had a very small gas leak in the gas bottle storage cabinet in my camper, which I could smell after the cabinet had been closed for a few hours, but I could not detect using soapy water on each joint and looking for bubbles. I held the probe of the Y201 detector against each joint for about 20 seconds, and it pinpointed the leaking joint. It had a failed gasket, which was easily replaceable. Absolutely brilliant!

The media could not be loaded.  Easy to use, detects smaller leaks too, has about 5 seconds response time, ready to use within 15 seconds, detected 3 leaks in our home (leaks on hob, shut off valve and supply pipe). Highly recommended, a must have for gas users.
