Style Six Sparkle It - Gem Decorator

Sure, it's not a classic Bedazzler, but I found the Style Six Gem Decorator as a fun, easy to use product to glam up those bland and plain shirts and bags that I have. I especially love the fact that I can store the fasteners and the gems inside the base of the machine; what a great way to save space and keep things neat! I even bought a couple of refill packs because I knew that I would love this from the get-go. The fastener system used here makes it possible to change up the gem colors if you wish to go for a different look, and that is really great to have. Plus, there's no need for batteries - obvious bonus; all you need to have is hand power, the materials and a vivid imagination to create something new from something old!The one issue I did have with it was the hole punch tool on the decorator machine - it tends to punch even when you're trying to attach the fastener. My solution is to practice on an old shirt first and read the instructions... you know, get used to the product before finalizing what you'd like to decorate. Mark where you want to punch first and keep a steady hand when you do so - it'll make for a more enjoyable experience!Still, it is a pretty nice toy, no matter what your age is! If you want something classic, that's fine, but the Gem Decorator is something simple for girls that aren't quite old enough for Bedazzlers. I totally recommend it as a buy!

My daughter hasn't even opened this, so I'm not really sure I can give a good review.

This is a terrible product. First of all it punches a large hole in the clothing. I tried this on two shirts and both had to be thrown out because the hole got too big. Then the worst part is that the "jewels" just snap on the front and sit about 1/4" above the clothing. It is nothing like it looks like on the box. If you are thinking it will be like the Bedazzler from the 80s then you will be really disappointed. My daughter who is 8 did finish one shirt. She said the "jewels" looked really bad and said she would never want to wear that shirt. I don't blame her. The Gem Decorator did not even work except to poke a large hole. I had to snap the 2 pieces in myself and then snap the "gem" on the front. I can only imagine that the "gems" would come off in the washing machine. Save your money. The manufacturer of this product - Jakks Pacific uses deceptive marketing to sell this product. My 9yo daughter got this as a gift and on the box there are pictures of a couple shirts with gemstones on them. Only after using it do you realize that what you end up with is not what is pictured. On the product pictured, the gemstones stay without any attachment device visible - as if they had been glued on - all you see is the pretty gemstone on the shirt. In reality, you end up with gemstones that have a cheap grey plastic holder around it that makes it protrude from the shirt about 1/2 inch.That means this company knowingly went out of their way to make a shirt without using their own product and used that to sell a product to you that they themselves wouldn't use. It's one thing to make a bad product, it's an entirely different thing to intentionally deceive people. For this reason I would never recommend any Jakks Pacific products.

SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT! We purchased this for our 10 year-old daughter for Christmas. She could not wait to try it! I couldn't either, to be honest - I was thinking along the lines of the "Rhinestone and Stud Setter" from the 70's or the "Bedazzler" for the 80's/90's. WRONG! First, the "setter" is cheap and flimsy - can't imagine it lasting long, even if my daughter DID want to continue using. Second - as stated before, if you have to start by putting a good-sized hole in your garment! And the more you mess with it, the larger the hole becomes. We have already ruined one shirt. The "gems" sit in a rather bulky setting, which causes them to be raised about 1/4" off the garment - and there is no way these would last past one washing.Style Six should be ashamed of themselves - definitely false advertising!!Maybe next year, I'll find an old-fashioned "bedazzler" and do this the right way!

This was given to my almost 10 year old daughter as a birthday gift. When we attempted to use it it punched holes through the garment in places where we didn't want them, the gems easily broke, and when on the shirt there is a large, gray, plastic ring that sits around the gem, unlike what the image on the front of the box claims. This product says it is for children 8 and up. But I had to do the whole thing myself. There was no way for her to contribute what so ever. In general this is a terrible product that is extremely disappointing.

Terrible toy - I agree with all the other reviews about this gem decorator. I am amazed that in today's world the makers can get away with advertising the product in a manner which is completely different from the overall result you are suppose to achieve with what is supplied.. A horrible grey plastic clip is left on the garment which makes the gem sit high off of it and is nothing at all like shown on the box. Rubbish and where the makers are left with our money, we the parents are left with disappointed children and a feeling of being duped.. Don't buy!!
