Sonik SKS Commercial Reels - 3000, 4000, 5000 Sizes

I bought the SKSC 5000 reel for bass fishing. I wanted something for short beach casting and spinning. I liked the additional spool allowing me to change lines for different uses. I am not sure how this will last given it is not sold as a sea fishing reel but, compared to other budget reels I've tried it seems reasonably well made. There was some backlash in the gearing and some side-to side movement in the drive spindle, which I fixed by adding a shim next to the bearing.Update:Happy with the performance of the first reel I decided to buy a second. Looking at the parts diagram I found the original problem was a missing washer. I contacted Sonik and they very promptly sent me a replacement. Excellent customer service.

This is the first time I have ever ordered from Amazon . Not knowing how it works I ordered the 2 Sonik sks reels and it went smooth & easy. Response was good with quick good feed back and delivery time was on the dot and it arrived when they said it would . Most pleased with Amazon and will use them again in time.

I purchased to go with a Sonik Waggler rod. My only gripe is I have never had so many situations where the line seems to get behind and into the spool workings. I’d say it might be my technique to give the reel the benefit of the doubt but I never get this with my other (various) reels.

Appears well designed and made

Two big problems with this reel. The spool is a nighmito take off and on. The clutch is either on and slack or on and mega tight. I've been fishing for 40+ years and this is the worst reel ever. It's actually just a cheaply made reel with a logo. No better than a pound shop reel. Disappointed with it. I will not be buying SONIK items again. I most definitely would not recommend this to anyone. If it was a tenner I'd still avoid it.
