Great way to explore!
Took this along on a backpacking trip and we had a great time exploring other areas we might go one day, while also using this to better understand the topography we were headed into. Considering getting a whole set for my mom for Christmas now.The quality is a nice sturdy map quality

Sturdy
Great map, very sturdy (though heavy if you are hiking with it and weight is a concern). Shows trails at a very useable level and good backup in case your GPS isn't working.

Superb
Great map. I love the durability. I've used on two trips so far this summer and it is indispensable. The colors are vibrant. I'm glad it is water resistant and durable as we were hiking in thigh deep water at one point and it got wet. Survived with no tears or holes. These are my "go to" maps, well worth the investment. I'm still amazed that I encounter people on the trail without a hard copy map. One young man, using only his phone, was going the wrong way on the trail. I admonished him about the folly of electronic maps and pointed him in the right direction...

Map divided north on one side south on the other.
The map is divided north on one side and south on the other. When ising it with other adjacent maps be aware. Good maps though.

Quality
I was very surprised by the quality. When I first opened the package, I was ready to call Amazon and complain because the material felt just like normal paper. I re-read the description on the store page -- yep, water-proof, tear resistant, etc. I took that as a challenge and put the seemingly normal paper map under the faucet and blasted it -- only to watch the water glide right off. So I grabbed the corner of the map and tried to rip it, and it stretched a little after applying pressure. Whoa. I don't know what these maps are made of, but I'm impressed. The color is great too, I'm sure the maps themselves are accurate because they are highly rated in that regard when I checked elsewhere. I didn't expect the quality of the actual material. You want these maps.

Great maps...just need to stop covering parts of the map with the Legend.
Trails Illustrated has some of the best color topo maps available. But instead of including an extra panel outside of the mapped area for info and legend, they have a nasty habit of covering th actual mapped area with that info. Typically these areas are the exact areas I'm trying to navigate. :(
