Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical

The music/singing on this CD is great I have seen the show a number of times in Cardiff, Blackpool, and the original London version. There are some additional songs on this CD which enhance the shows story line, only one missing from the original album "THE BED" I would have liked the CD to have had a protective case not just the cardboard cover. Apart from that delivery was speedy and the product well packaged. I would recommend to any prospective purchaser.

Well, it's not the same as way back then but it was still pretty good - a real shame that its closing in London so soon - the album captures the liveliness of a show that surprisingly still works.

Bought this CD (although I still own an original vinyl album from 1960s)so that I could relive a very special show - saw it in London last year 40 years after I'd first seen it at home in Liverpool. Anybody who was around in the 1960s will remember what a special time it was and how the show caused a storm with its music, song lyrics, nudity and storyline. Although Vietnam and conscription is now a piece of the past anybody listening to the songs or watching the show can't help but be moved back to another time and to thoughts of where the last 40 years have gone.

Having been too young in the late 1960's to see the original production, I waited over forty years to see this show. The album of the 1968 London cast  Hair: Original Broadway Cast [SOUNDTRACK ]had been the very first vinyl 'LP' I ever bought.This revival was an astounding production, so much so that I went to see it three times, including the very last performance. This CD captures the whole essence of the show, and for any other fans (both old and young) it will take you back and make you relive those beautiful and poignant messages that the show holds.

Regretted not buying the CD at the show - couldn't buy it from the show's London website. LOVE the CD! Can't stop playing it and am driving the other half mad with renditions of "Aquarius" at the top of my voice!! You can hear the lyrics well, so get to understand the pacifist message of a lot of teh songs better. Though I do think it's a different Berger than the one I saw perform it in London. The case is well designed too - though it's card, not hard plastic, and it comes with a booklet with pictures and some of the history of the show.

Having seen the original stage show in London in the 60's and then again last year in London, I am a great fan of the music of Hair. I have reviewed the original London recording separately (DVD cover looks like my old LP cover but not so good. This recording has the original vibrancy of the musical and some extra numbers in it which are all great. Thoroughly recommend this recording if you like the music from Hair and can sing along.
