My new morning drink
I can't have caffeine due to a medication I take. It's hard to find drinks that don't have caffeine. I drank chicory for a while, but it stained my teeth worse than coffee. This drink is fantastic! I make it in my French press and let it steep as the directions say . I was a little put off by how thin it looked at first, but the taste won me over. Then I realized that I was expecting hot chocolate, but I didn't add any milk. THEN I realized it didn't need milk. I just put a little coffee creamer in, and it is delicious. I eliminated caffeine years ago, so I don't miss it anymore. I'm just looking for something that's a full flavored hot drink, and this is it. Five stars all the way!

Really good, just don't follow its instructions
This is really good if you brew it different than the instructions show. The instructions say to brew it like coffee. Don't do that. It's too weak. It needs to steep in boiling hot water for 5-10 mins to absorb all that cacao goodness. I'm giving this 4 stars only because the instructions are not a good approach. When prepared correctly, it tastes like 5 stars. Here's what I do:-Fill a microwavable coffee cup almost full of water and microwave it till it boils.-Insert a reusable stainless steel coffee filter on top into the water.-Add 2 tablespoons of the ground cacao into the filter. This separates it just enough so it can steep in the water while allowing it to stay filtered with easy cleanup later.-Stir it once in awhile in the filter with a spoon. Then, pull the filter up and let it drain, then SLOWLY let it fall back into the cup so it has time to let the water in slowly through the filter mesh so as not to overflow the cup. Do this a couple times over the course of 5-10 mins.-Pull the filter up and let it drain, discard the used grounds.-Enjoy!

Tasty but isn't a "substitute" for caffeine in coffee.
I enjoyed it and it gave me energy. I would love to replace my morning and/or afternoon coffee with this, but it in itself can't be switched "cold turkey" to avoid caffeine withdrawal headaches, that's just my warning (I knew it wouldn't, didn't try it). I plan on weaning myself off the caffeine and replacing the habit with this. I am going to cold-brew or French press it. I brewed it in a Keurig in a K-cup adapter and it was good.

Mixed feelings on this
As many other reviews mention, the brew this makes is much less rich and flavorful than would be expected. If you’re hoping this will be a cocoa flavored version of a strong cup of coffee, or hot chocolate minus the sugar and milk, you will likely be disappointed.Instead, it makes what I’d describe as cocoa-flavored hot water. Even when using more than the recommended amount of product, I still couldn’t get it to be as flavorful as I’d like. You know how some diners have coffee that’s essentially just brown water, with only a little coffee flavor? Think that, but a cocoa version. That said, the flavor it does have, if you just think about the flavor component in isolation, has a very good taste and richness to it. A nice deep cocoa. I still do enjoy drinking it, especially once my palate adjusts to the more subtle than expected level of flavor each time. It’s just not nearly potent enough in my (and, from the reviews, many people’s) opinion. It hasn’t replaced anything else I might drink but, for now, it’s been added to the rotation. On the fence if I would reorder or not.So, if you like lighter tasting hot beverages - prefer your coffee or tea on the weaker side - you may like this. But for those looking for a bolder drink, I don’t feel like it will replace anything, but could be something you may enjoy having on hand in addition to other hot beverages or when you want something more mild.

Awesome taste
Tastes chocolaty. No anxiety 😬 from caffeine and able to kick coffee to curb. I would recommend if you are trying to stop drinking coffee!

Sorry but NOPE
As a person who has had an on-again/off-again addiction to coffee for more than 20 years, I really wanted to love this. I support all things healthy and organic. If nothing else, I thought it would make a nice drink for cold evenings as I do only drink coffee from morning to mid-day. But alas; this simply tastes like watered down hot chocolate. My daughter spit it straight down the sink. To me, it isn't necessarily bad, it is just terribly weak and incredibly expensive. I have tried using more product to less water and still get watery results. I bought the two small bags for around $14, each bag will give you maybe 3 servings (if you drink at least 2 mugs at a time like I do). I will be sticking to decaf and hot cocoa. Waste of money unfortunately!

Not a coffee subsitute: no flavor & very dry.
This product was suggested to me by Facebook... I should have known better, but I gave it a try anyways due to my sensitivity to coffee. I read that this was from the cacao beans and that it would be a great replacement for a cup of coffee. It did not live up to this claim for me. I found that the taste was lacking any flavor and left my mouth with a dried out feeling. I tried brewing this several different ways including adding more than the suggested amount and evening mixing it with traditional coffee grounds. But nothing worked. This product just was not good to me and I could not finish the bags that I ordered. Also it takes a little more work to prepare as the grounds are too thick and will clog up a traditional coffee maker. The price is also very cheap for a very small amount. The little bit of upset stomach is worth it to me for that tasty cup of coffee I so crave! This is just not something that can be easily duplicated and I have yet to find that substitute that works.

Enjoyable
I like the flavor and health benefits of cacoa. The small bags allow me to sample a variety of flavors without committing to a large bag. I use Cri Bru for my french press. Sometimes I mix the cacoa with my favorite coffee when I want a less heavy taste. I have yet to attempt cacoa in a cold brew, but that will be next.
