Very nice watch for a very nice price!
I’ve long been intrigued by Russian watches; I must own about 8 (and counting) Vostoks. While browsing for the next one, I came upon this Poljot Sturmanskie Gagarin reissue. It’s not quite an original- it’s the original 2614-2H movement inside a new case. For me, it was love at first sight: the austere simplicity which is a hallmark of Soviet design philosophy, the Cyrillic writing, the military implications of the winged bomb, the radiation-green shade of the numbers (makes me think of Chernobyl)... in short, this watch couldn’t shout RUSSIAN any louder than if it was interfering with U.S. elections. ;)The movement seems well-made and reliable, and as a pleasant surprise it operates at 21,600 bph (beats per hour). I’m used to the slower Vostoks chugging along at 18,000 bph, so that’s cool. So far it’s gained 10 seconds per day, which is well within range for a standard non-adjusted mechanical watch. All in all, very pleased, and would buy from seller again.
