Nice looking and easy to install. Has an internal magnetic switch. When the base unit gets too far away from the little magnet piece (such as when a door opens), the alarm sounds. Very reliable, consistent action. Very easy to install, with self adhesive pads on both pieces.I'll also add that that although this unit works on the principle of a magnetically triggered switch - the attraction between the base unit and the magnet is not strong enough to hold them together. So . . . simply laying the two parts next to each other in the situation of your choosing gives you a pretty good tamper warning, should there be enough movement to cause either part to slide or fall away from the other. Use your imagination. This makes this device a very versatile anti-tamper alarm for an infinite number of applications.By using a simple magnetic switch, this alarm is not a battery eater such as the inductive field proximity alarms tend to be.My only criticism is that this alarm is not as loud as some of the similar ones I have heard.Fairly inexpensive, and uses 2 common AAA batteries (a plus). Batteries not included.

I ordered three of these for exterior doors. They work wonderfully and are VERY loud. I have a three story log home. I had to use ear protection to set them up making certain I had the magnet in the right position. I didn't purchase these to deter anyone, although they certainly may do that which would be an added bonus. I got these to awaken me in the middle of the night giving me the upper hand and time to get my 45 and dial 911. These will absolutely do that. I'm ordering three more for the remaining doors on the lowest level. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We live in an apartment, which only came with a deadbolt for the door. Needless to say, that even though we live in a nice area, and in a gated community, we wanted a bit more security.I researched online for a while, and all of the products in this category of security devices (small, cheap, easy to install) are about the same, so I went ahead and ordered this brand from Amazon. It does what it is supposed to do. It is a little device that has two pieces. The main unit, and the little sensor unit. Your stick them both (they come with adhesive already on them, with a sticker covering backing you just have to remove) to the door, at the edge where the door opens. One on the door itself, the other on the door jam, aligned with the other.Once the unit is armed (and has its 2 AAA batteries (not included)) then when either one of the sensors moves too far away from the other (such as when the door opens), then the alarm goes off.The reason I am rating this 4 instead of 5 stars, is because the alarm isn't quite as loud as I would like. They say about 90-100 decibels. It is more like 60-ish. It is still loud, and would certainly startle an intruder, but if your door is several doors and hallways away from where you sleep, and you are a sound sleeper, you may just sleep right through the alarm. It should have been louder.We have the window sensors from this same brand on order now, I will review them once I have installed them.

Two months ago I bought three of these items and installed one on each entrance to my house.My primary reason for buying these devices was to keep my two year old daughter and my three year old son from sneaking outside. I'm embarrassed to say that the two of them escaped early one Sunday morning and went to the next door neighbor's house to play with their friends, but now the kids won't open the doors when "the squeakers" are on.Of course there is also the added benefit on security!I have these units on two normal doors and on one sliding door. I haven't had any problems with false alarms or with the units falling down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

Will definitely alert you to the door being opened when you are in the apartment. Not sure it's loud enough to scare anyone away though. I was hoping for something that would at least get the neighbors' attention. My downstairs neighbor couldn't hear it.

These work beautifully. If your door jamb and your door are not on the same level you may have to add something so that they are, but these are great and I sleep so much better now that I have them.

It works well. Not sure it would prevent a burglary if you were not home. It is not very loud and I doubt my neighbors could hear it unless they were right outside. However I live alone and it is comforting to know that no one could enter the house without me knowing and giving me plenty of time to react. And if a theif was in a hurry this just might scare them enough to try a different home. It was easy to install and operate. I did however have to turn the main part upside down as the trim around the door frame did no allow contact without doing so. Try it before you remove the self stick tape backing.

It's very easy to install and is loud enough to wake me up if someone opens my front door. I personally believe you shouldn't rely on this device to "scare away" potential threat because they can simply turn it off. I use it only to wake me up from sleep so that I can take appropriate actions to protect my house.

This small door alarm has been installed on my inside garage (side) door, and works well... and the moment the door is open, then it goes off. Fairly loud and and enough to scare off the intruder and this is only a deterrent because the alarm can be "turn off". Perfect for our house :D

The outer packaging states this alarm is 100 decibels, however once you open the extremely-difficult-to-open hard plastic packaging that requires heavy duty scissors and/or wire cutters to open, the instructions sheet states the alarm is 95 decibels but can also be significantly quieter depending on how fresh the AAA batteries are in the device (batteries not included).I assumed once I defeated the horrible packaging, bought batteries, installed them, and cleaned the door and door frame, the device would be ready to go.. but no. That was when I found out the sticky stuff on the two parts of the device isn't sticky enough to stick. So I bought some double-sided heavy-duty tape. So, between the cost of replacing the scissors I broke trying to open the package, batteries, and surprisingly costly double-sided tape, this device didn't turn out to be such a bargain.The first time I tested it after mounting it to the door, it seemed quieter than 100 db or 95 db. I used a decibel-measure app and found that with new alkaline batteries (as the instructions state to use), the alarm was around 53 decibels.Really disappointed with this product and the manufacturer.
