Masters of Indian Classical Music

This is one of the best collections of Indian classical music that I have heard in a long time. Makes a great gift too! Music for relaxing, going with the flow, being uplifted, and being healed from within. Indian classical music has healing properties, so play it in the background anytime, or just sit, close your eyes, and go with the flow of the haunting, exotic sounds. This isn't really dance music, and it's not Western style or commercially influenced music -- it's the fantastic music of India, the Far East -- it has a power to take you places you've never been. It's music for relaxing, going within, preparing to meditate, and getting in touch with your higher self. The Indian classical instruments were developed hundreds of years ago by advanced spiritual adepts who heard this music on higher (spiritual) planes and then created physical instruments to replicate this music on earth. The effect is to pull one into a higher state of consciousness, open the heart, and bring joy, bliss, and peace into life. These are some of the greatest musicians of the modern age, and it is an honor to be able to hear their music on CD. This CD is worth owning and listening to regularly -- and giving to friends. You will love the uplifting effects it has on consciousness.

While there are many forms of Indian music missing, the contents of this CD will thrill anyone who loves classical Indian music. Be prepared for a true listening adventure. I only gave it four stars because, while I think the piece by Ravi Shankar is very good, I would not consider it representative of his best work. However, the other works represent the artists well.This album would be great as an introduction to classical Indian music or a as a valuable addition to any library of Indian music.

The title is accurate, and the price is great. If you like classical Indian music (e.g., Ravi Shankar), get this two-disc set.

Great instrumental music that will hypnotize you. The percussion is amazing, and the sitar sometimes reminds me of classic rock guitar licks
