Out of the box, this filter looked pretty good. Nicely creased, the location for the frame clips on the long edges clearly marked, and even a decent step-by-step installation guide printed on the box, along with many conspicuous cautions not to tear the pre-glued areas of the pleats which were "by design to aid in installing the pleat spacers. OK, that's well and good idea: there are glue dots at either end that basically prevent any pleat from being expanded too far so you can more easily avoid a "double fold" in any of the spacers. However that's not a huge issue once you get the first spacer installed anyway, so I'm not sure this was a problem that needed solving. On the other hand, they have created a new, entirely unsolvable problem, and that is when the glue dots line up with where on of those spacers is supposed to actually insert. It pretty much garantees that there will be a tear. Furthermore in handling this acordion-like media, you have to be very careful not to let one side flop down flat... which, if you follow their instructions and don't lock in the long edges of the frame until you have positioned the media, if very easy to let happen. Basically that will also cause the glued spots to tear. It's a very bad "feature" and will leave you with a compromised filter that you have to patch up with tape over the hole. I would give it 1 star, except for the fact that this might have been a one-off in terms of the location of the glue dots... one side was far enough away from the spacers to avoid and issue, but the other side wasn't. I already had to return another filter bought on Amazon from a different brand that arrived damaged do to poor shipping, so at this point I am going to make do with the current state of things... BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO just because some design "expert" set out to make something faster to install, but ended up increase the risk of product failure to an unacceptable level IMHO -- and believe me I was being very careful when installing this filter.

New home to us an I've never seen anything like these before. My previous filter had a standard cardbard frame and filter that you just slid in and out, and threw away when done.These filters require a "Pleat Spacer" to hold them in place. Once I found that out I went online to buy a set of spacers. Found out they are anywhere from $50-80 for a set so I gave up on these filters and bought what was in the furnace before.

The boxes were damaged, smashed, taped together and about to fall apart.. Did not open the boxes because the filters were probably damaged as well. We have ordered the BestAir Pro filters before and the box was delivered in perfect condition. Don't know what happened to these.

Love them they work great I have owned my house now 4/5 years and I have to use this product the entire time
