RIFFAGE
If you love bass-heavy riffage (although this is just guitar and drums), check this out. Awesome blend of loud-quiet-loud progressions. Gentry Densley is a monster on the guitar, and the drummer (can't recall his name) is the perfect foil - not too fancy, but knows when to lay into things. Play it super loud.

Eagle Twin create a dense and sprawling journey with just two players and a lot of thought.
2009's "Crows" firmly established this band as not only a vital addition to the Southern Lord roster but showcased a duo brandishing many talents. Guitarist/vocalist Gentry Densley. Let's talk about his sound for a moment. The tuning is a couple steps down and fortified by a tone as fuzzed out and bottom heavy as any bass has the right to be. There's a clarity that comes through atypically of low-C Neanderthal-isms. His playing reminds me of the snake on the artwork. When he's not pounding out thunderclap drones that draw comparisons to you-know-which-band, he knows just the right moments when to scrape out some sustained barres and create tension with harmonics. Take the introduction of "Lorca (Adan)" as an example of setting an ominous tone. Hi-hats punctuate sinister minor chords leading into throat singing and a sprawl of screeching guitar. Volume builds. The same theme is explored louder. The subtleties here are very rewarding. It's like the trepidation you'd feel about exploring an abandoned house, taking each door slower than the next, the dread growing with each knob turned. Musical references, as specified in interviews include John McLaughlin and even some heavy blues. This is more felt channeled through the spirit of the playing than in direct homage as you're not going to hear Densley and drummer Tyler Smith go into any groove that could pass for Mahavishnu Orchestra anytime soon, but there's a spacious and even relaxing aura to Eagle Twin that often has me closing my eyes and reflecting rather than banging my head. Though there's plenty of that too.Much like their debut release, one cursory glance at the themes and quotations presented on the beautiful record sleeve tells almost everything the listener needs to know. This is some advanced concept, dare I say scholarly researched material. As someone with no religious background who doesn't understand the biblically evocative lyrics, it isn't conducive to enjoying the music. Very forward thinking release that should please fans of drone, doom or anyone looking for a refreshing approach to tiresome genre tropes.

Trop bon
Pour ceux qui connaissent le groupe, cela reste fidèle au premier album. un disque sludge, anvoutant, mystique, oppressant et qui peut rappeller des groupe de rock actuels et des vieux bluesmen de la Louisiane, boueux.
