and a cradle to drop it in for charging had a great draw to it
I bought this phone for my dad. The idea of big buttons, simple interface, and a cradle to drop it in for charging had a great draw to it.Pros:- Big Screen- Big key Pad- SOS button w/ customization of notifications- Unlocked GSMCons:- Software is a bit complex, and not user friendly- While the flashlight seems like a great idea, with the way the phone is grabbed it is always on when I see my dad, leading to shorter battery life with no way to disable the flashlight feature- While I was thrilled about the cradle, and an easy way for my dad with Parkinson's to charge the device, the pins and contacts are so precise that he has trouble getting the device seated int eh cradel correctly- The pins int he cradle are very sensitive, and after 2 days came loose, and would no longer charge the device- While Micro-USB is great for versatility, for seniors the frustration of plugging something so small in, especially in the correct direction has caused issues, and even broke the port since it would get jammed in the wrong direction (if the cradle were working, or better designed this wouldn't be an issue.I don't think I would buy this again as the phone only lasted 1 month before being un-usable. While this is partly the use, there is much improvement that could be made in the device, software, and through user testing.

Great phone, large screen, easy to see!
I bought this phone back in Jan 2015. I really like the big screen (easy to see even without my glasses) the sound is loud & clear, with both ring volume & listening volume being adjustable. It's also easier to handle than my last phone which I had to use a magnifying glass to read the tiny little screen. The customer service at Jethro Phones is fantastic. They answered several questions for me even before I bought the phone! I got the impression that they really care about helping new customers. I had an issue with the phone after about 8 months, contacted Jeffery in Jethro customer service and he sent me a new phone, NO questions asked! Great customer service at this company! I wouldn't hesitate to buy more Jethro phones as gifts for friends or family members.

so good. Still really like the form factor of this ...
This is a very well designed cell phone for seniors. This is the latest iteration of the phone and I hope the execution shortcomings of previous series has been addressed. So far, so good. Still really like the form factor of this design and it is excellent when it functions as designed. Previous series had poor batteries; but that is not evident in this one. Other programming glitches seem to have been solved also. Sure hope so. I am staying with Jethro because of the super customer service and great design for a simple to use cell phone - cannot be beat.

Basic - hard to program - not a good buy...
I bought this phone for my husband who is hard of hearing - that is the only good thing about this phone. WE had to get a new sim card - couldn't transfer any of his contacts. It's difficult to add contact info. It drops calls - doesn't have reliable signal. I am now looking for a different phone!

Jethro problems
He really liked this phone until he started having problems with it. I have called Jethro and sent e mails and no answer back. The white light comes on and he can not get it off without taking the battery out. He has an icon that looks like a message with a 1 and down arrow on it and he has no messages. The headset is on and headset is off message keeps coming on when he does anything. When people call he an not hear them until he hits the back button. At times he has not dial tone. He would like to have help with this phone. But jethro will not answer us back.

The charging base is great if you have trouble plugging in with due to ...
Purchased for my mom who is 83 yrs old and not tech savvy. The charging base is great if you have trouble plugging in with due to poor vision or arthritis. It's also very easy to open/close. You can load pictures to make dialing by picture easier for the user but the picture quality is really, really bad - the worst I've ever seen. The charge last a very long time because there's not a lot of technology using up the power. Overall, it's been exactly what we wanted. I'll update again if we come across any issues.

Very nice design, but
Very nice design, but... does not work with any service. Was sold to me as "unlocked", but it was not. I tried AT&T, Customer cellular, T-mobile, Singular, ets. - they couldn't make it working. Discharging completely in 1 day (even when not in use). Cannot make or receive any calls - "emergency only". Tried to make it working for several months, but had to give up. The worst product I ever buy from Amazon!

Some obvious flaws, like NO VOICEMAIL INDICATOR!
I bought this phone for my 75 year old mother. It's an ok phone, but it has many flaws, including:(1) No voicemail indicator. Huge fail.(2) No way to switch from military time to AM/PM.(3) Lots and lots of extra features that seniors don't need like: a useless low quality camera, an FM tuner, a file browser, bluetooth support. All of these features are represented in the menus, making the phone more complicated than it needs to be.(4) They should have left text messaging off this phone because nobody (senior or otherwise) is going to press the 7 key four times just to type the letter S. I had Tmobile completely disable texting for this line.(5) Confusing button layout. Why are the left and right action buttons not located directly below the screen?(6) Confusing on screen prompts. For example, instead of "Speakerphone" or just "Speaker" the label reads "H-Free". Does my 75 year old mom realize that this means handsfree, aka, speakerphone? No.(7) Tiny, tiny keypad icons for calling voicemail activating silent mode. These should be their own buttons.(8) The only format for displaying the date is DD-MM-YYYY, as in 03-02-2015, which is Feb 3, not March 2. Would be nice if I could pick the date format... or if it just defaulted to March 2 2015, which is clear and unambiguous. All that being said... we decided to keep this phone, but only because we can't find anything better. It's still pretty lame.

Excellent emergency phone
Bought this phone for my 85 year old mother. After I showed her the basics on how to make/receive phone calls, she's set! She uses it as an emergency phone with the Anytime plan from Petro-Canada ($100 a year!). She's independent and has had to call me on a few occasions to pick her up! I don't worry where she is anymore.

Canadian user
Simple 'Geezer Phone'....sturdy, large display and keyboard. Instructions in 'Pidgin Engleesh'...could use a pro translator. Big bonus feature is the fact that it comes with a handy charging stand...no need to rummage around with adapters, plugs and cables...just plunk it down.Only an emergency phone for travelling, but pretty well done, and a great price. Just plugged in my "7-11 / Speakout" Sim card into it (from old phone) and it worked fine. Hard to beat the '7-11' rates for occasional use of the phone.

Good product. works as advertised
Good product. works as advertised. Great features with the large buttons, simplified menus and loud volume ( great for senior). Would be nice if there was a call display on the outside face like other low end flip phones. Also, the panel at the back was a bit difficult to open on the unit I purchased, when putting in the battery and when adding the sim card. It may have just been the unit I purchased. Also, voicemail does not trigger from #1 as is usually the case with other cellphones, which requires navigation through a couple of steps - not the most convenient for simple use by a senior. Still, good product for the price and both the user and I (purchaser) are satisfied with value.

He was looking for something similar to the old Doro and your phone fit the bill nicely. He likes the keyboard and the features
Purchased this phone for my husband who has less than 10% vision due to Macular Degeneration. He was looking for something similar to the old Doro and your phone fit the bill nicely. He likes the keyboard and the features, finds it easy to use. The only problem we are having is the reception where we live in Wellington, Ontario.I also have a Rogers phone but it is a Smartphone and gets excellent reception both here and across Canada. We are a little disappointed that my husband's new Jethro - even though it is a 4G and mine is only a 3G cannot always get and maintain a signal here in Wellington. It works great when we get to a bigger centre such as Belleville but where he really needs it to work is here in Wellington when he is out and about on his own!Elaine Jackson
