Fantastic book
I love this book and the story. I have used for children's time at church and durning classes. Very sweet story about a lonely boy who finds a friend encounters bullies, loses his new friend and finally sees him delivered to heaven.

I Could Not Love This Book More
I could not love this book more. BLUEBIRD unfolds gently, sweetly without a single word of text. In fact, text not only is unnecessary, it would impede the flow of this tender story. The artwork features a remarkably subtle palette -- only grays and blues -- but conveys so much through darkness and light and the shift from grays to blues. The topics within BLUEBIRD are weighty and universal. I did cry when I reached the end of the book. My son, who is four, understood the story and proclaimed it "beautiful". Perhaps I should be more like my son.

Different ending than expected
In case this isn't mentioned anywhere else, the bird dies at the end and the boy takes it up to heaven. I clearly did not research this book enough before buying. It is a wonderful book but the ending was quite sad.

Amazing tool for Therapists!
I love wordless books, especially as a therapist working with non-English speakers. It was shocking to me how emotionally invested I became in this picture book - to the point that I was truly crying at the end, tears rolling down my cheeks. This is a beautiful story of a boy who is alone, finds joy, suffers great loss, and discovers hope through his grief. Such amazing themes of loss and resiliency, and an amazing tool for a therapist!

Sometimes you don't need words
As a child I was bullied and never really cared for how it was look at by society. They tell you to toughen up, be a man, etc etc. But it is different when you are the one that happens too, instead of the one giving advice. This book is amazing, tearful, and related very well to those that have been there.

So beautifully done. Excellent
The most powerful picture story. I use it in the classroom for teacher candidates to appreciate the influence books have on students. It can be used in a variety of lessons, extended to varied age groups and abilities groups, and is profound in its impact. So beautifully done. Excellent !

BEAUTIFUL
This book is bound to become a classic, not only for children but for adults as well. So reminds me of The Giving Tree, in that its beauty ends on sadness yet acceptance. I loved the simplicity, the colors, and of course, the message. Congratulations Mr. Staake

Lovely, but I should have read the reviews to see that the bird dies before buying. A little upsetting for young children.

Not Kindle suitable
I ordered the Kindle edition but it doesn't work on my 2 year old device or my son's 6 month old one.

A great wordless picture book to target bullying.
This book can be used across grade levels to address the severity of bullying. I can also be a great way to target inference and questioning skills . You could extend upper year students and challenge them to write a narrative that matches the illustrations. The possibilities are endless with this book.It is a bit sad for lower primary students, but an important issue to discuss none the less.
