Amusing, fluffy holiday read
I got this on the Kindle to take with me on a babymoon. It's certainly hilarious in an incredibly crude way, it had me chuckling and reading parts to my husband the whole time. But it only took me one lazy beach day to read the whole thing, I'm not sure it was worth the $10 and wish I could have borrowed it from a friend.DO NOT take it as anything like an advice book. I couldn't help but cringe at the situation the author put herself into and blithely justifies to the reader - she proudly forgoes vegetables, makes and eats a batch of brownies each day, packs on 60 pounds (and quotes her doctor to justify this as 'normal'), rants about hating skinny people, then complains about being fat and her constant constipation. Gee, you think those things might be related? So please, read this book for a light laugh, but don't take it as advice.

Funny and light
For those who are looking for helpful advice on pregnancy, this is not a book for you. It is not meant to be a guide through pregnancy. It is only meant to make you laugh and look at yourself from a little less serious perspective. There are many other great books out there which will tell you in a very serious, professional tone about pregnancy symptoms, progress, important things to remember, etc. Buy this book only if you need to get away from those books, and if you have a sense of humor. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. Jenny is very funny, although some might find her language a little offensive (I didn't). She says it like it is. She mentions the beautiful moments of her pregnancy, but she also describes in detail the less pretty aspects of pregnancy. I appreciated this book for its honesty, sense of humor, and less-than-serious tone. It did make me laugh, and on some days it was a huge achievement.

Learn to laugh lol
A short, funny read. Not a medical book and not for people who cannot laugh. I see a bunch of negative reviews from people saying how beautiful pregnancy is and how they were offended by this book. Really? I hate close minded people who think everyone should feel how they feel and think how they think. Yes okay, pregnancy is beautiful: but hemmroids bigger than golf balls are not beautiful so stop lying ladies. Not every woman out there loves being pregnant. There are plenty of things about pregnancy that just plain old suck and Jenny's no holds barred approach to them cracked me up. Don't make it the only book you read about pregnancy if this is your first, but if you can laugh about the gross side if this beautiful process, give the book a shot.

scary truth
While I was disappointed at how short each section was it was also enough to scare the sh@* out of me as we are just now starting to plan for a baby. It's so funny and truthfull I learned things I never knew. This is not a book to gain what-to-do knowledge, it's simply things that a pregant women might experience and since every womens body is different your expierence may not be exactly as Mrs. McCarthy's was. I'm glad I read this book and will be reading her other 2 books in the series.UPDATE: I am now pregnant with my first baby in my second tri-mester and have to say that my first review is worth repeating, Mrs. McCarthy's experience is different from mine as is every woman. I don't have hardly any horrifying symptoms like described in the book which I'm grateful for but I was expecting the worst. I guess that's better than not being prepared. Still a very entertaing book that kept me laughing all the way through and would recommend to any of my friends thinking about trying to concieve.

OK. few laughs, but as expected plain celebrity book...
I admit I had few laughs and some hilarious onesBUTI can't say throughout the entire book reading. Parts were very plain, so boring they wouldn't challenge my brain...not even my slowing brain as a pregnant woman...it mostly lacked consistant talent in writing. Couldn't shake off the feeling it seemed like it was written by a celebrity who's desperate to sell something- a book,as well as to shift public attention to "their" pregnancy, there were parts I felt celebrity-author grew tired and scratched ideas off the wall...like some overexhausted engine that wanted to prove they're cool & smart. There were too many points where I felt the celebrity-author lacked MATERNAL DEPTH (I'm sure she's evolved since then...) and that's how I came to determine that this book is a waste of money because It's unlikely I would grab it off the shelf for a 2nd reading, to me it felt like buying an O.K gossip magazine where you may be this happy-escapist for the 1st 10 minutes but then you end up throwing to the trash b.c it's ain't one of those books that accrues any value...

A Waste of Money and Time
I bought this book to have a fun empathetic pregnancy read; however, I did not find it to be so. Also, not that I expected the book to be very informative (if you want informative, buy a medical guide), but it was really not helpful at all. As for the humor, there were occasional funny moments, but I found most of the book to be crude. With all the pregnancy books out there, I would pass on this one and head for The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy instead. Now that book is hilarious, empathetic, AND helpful! This book was super short and had just a couple of longer funny stories, some of which were crude. I found that it didn't have enough material to really be very empathetic and fun towards pregnancy, and I found that the crudeness and perspective toward her husband while she was pregnant to be unrelatable. In summary: This book is a waste of money and time.

Funny, but lacking substance
After reading Teresa Strassers "Exploiting My Baby" (which I HIGHLY recommend), I was looking to find another fun pregnancy book. I ordered this one and was excited to read it.I flew through it, and like many other readers, had many moments of laughing out loud. It was really funny, but at the same time it was lacking in substance. I never really felt connected to her struggles, and felt more often that they were maybe a bit over-inflated and exaggerated. It was funny, but overall it just felt like Jenny was trying too hard.I recommend Teresa's book over this one, for sure. You'll laugh out loud, but for different reasons...it's more of a "smart" funny book, whereas this one just isn't.

So not funny.....
I really wanted to find this book hilarious but it just wasn't. Her humor was very bland and dare I say 'American' when i was expecting something much more honest and relatable (I was pregnant when I read this). She just isnt that funny and doesnt make great observations on Pregnancy in my opinion. I also found her a bit whiney and annoying. Sorry Jenny ( like she cares).

A funny and easy read
A funny and easy read. I read it when I became pregnant with my first child and I enjoyed it and passed it on to another first time mom-to be. A humorous take on some of the less-than pleasant aspects of pregnancy.
