Excellent for Self-Defence and Dinner Parties
I live in a rather rough neighbourhood, where burglaries are becoming a major issue. I’ve recently spent quite a bit of time searching online for home-defence systems. Initially I was a little apprehensive about keeping weapons in the home that could be used against me in a break-in situation, so I’ve been focused on finding everyday objects that could double-up as efficient and lethal weapons. That’s when I came across these wonderful concrete table-coasters by Mud & Straw.I’ll take an opportunity to briefly describe these suckers; they are hefty. Like Olympic throwing discus hefty. They are also extremely durable, constructed from concrete and backed by cork, and initial testing (we’ll come to this later) suggests that they can be hurled time and time again. And crucially, they fit perfectly into my RS-X7 'DOOMSDAY' SLINGSHOT CROSSBOW (which I’ll cover in another review).Amazon Prime’s next day delivery was an absolute lifesaver as they’ve already come in handy. Just this weekend I was enjoying a late night whittling session when I heard a noise at my door, and the lock began to rustle. I was not expecting visitors, so naturally I escalated the situation to DEFCON DOOMSDAY and equipped my slingshot, loaded with my shiny new Mud & Straw coasters.A minor point – the beautiful hand-painted copper accent on these coasters really assists with aiming, as it acts as a sort of rear-sight.After I warned the trespassers to leave or suffer the consequences, the jangling at the lock stopped and the trespassers began to kick with alarming force against my door. In the heat of the moment I panicked and fired the first shot a little off-target – the concrete-coaster soared straight through my partition wall like it was paper and embedded itself into my oak dining table with impressive momentum. I quickly re-loaded (these coasters come in 4-packs which is great because it leaves spare ammo for prolonged warfare) and lined up my second shot with the precision of Legolas and Robin Hood combined. It blasted through my front door like a double-barrelled shot-gun round, thudded into something behind and all I heard after that was a blood-curdling yet satisfying wheeze.Sensing that the surviving trespassers were considering the fragility of their own mortality, I charged at the door (which was now just a pile of splinters after the first coaster-round was fired through it) screaming “FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY!”. Outside, the hooded trespassers were in full retreat, carrying what was left of one of their companions. I fired a final battery of Mud & Straw ammunition at the urchins to see them off – one shot curled beautifully through the air, assisted by the cork backing, giving it an angled trajectory similar to Captain America’s shield when he throws it. Unfortunately, I hadn’t calibrated for arced shots, so the coaster missed its mark and obliterated my neighbours’ dog Bernard (the good news is that it looks exactly like a 12-tonne lorry hit Bernard and we live near a busy road, so I don’t think anyone suspects me).Anyway to sum up this review, my fiancé says they’re quite nice mug coasters and go well with our dining set, but I can’t comment on that.10/10 would buy again.

Coasters
Won't come close to G. Bolton's fantastic review (actually made me laugh out loud) so won't even try, other than to say great high quality coasters - very uniform colour and polished finish (unlike some of the obviously diy jobs on a certain auction site). Generally you get what you pay for and these are a prime example of that. Oh and they don't do that annoying thing of sticking to the bottom of your mug..which is handy as I can't afford to buy steel toe capped slippers for each member of my family...

Amazing gift
If carlsberg did coasters…. Never seen a cup of tea looking so happy as it sat perfectly on the super slick gold and grey finish of these coasters. Almost uploaded a photo to Instagram with the caption “beau-TEA-ful” but I didn’t in the end.

Really nice looking but can't recommend.
Pros: They do look really nice. Love the design.Cons: Not easy to clean. They stain easily and well couldn't get them to look the same ever again. If you drop them they will break.I'd recommend only for decoration, not for use.

Modern looking coasters
These arrived promptly and are really well made. I also hadn’t realised that the back of each coaster is covered by cork so they won’t scratch or damage the furniture either. If you wanted to buy the set as a gift, they come securely packaged in a trendy box and so look more expensive than they actually are.

Perfect
These coasters were just what we've been looking for, and finally a pack of 4! really good quality finish to all of them and the copper detail is done really well. Bought as a gift but ended up keeping ourselves because we liked them so much. Packaging nice and simple and coasters seem secure within!Would suggest for anyone looking for a good present or looking for themself with the added bonus of being available on Prime!5 Stars!

Beware condensation!!
Loved the Coasters when they arrived, but on the second day of using, i had a Spiced Rum on the rocks, the ice causes condensation to drip down the outside of glass, so when you lift the glass the coaster sticks to the bottom and then falls off, mine fell on to my laminate floor and badly chipped, so i now use folded kitchen towel between glass and coaster to absorb the drips when having an iced drink. So not quite as robust as the review by G.Bolton.

Great finish
These coasters are smart and contemporary, with many guests to my house complimenting the style of them. I would highly recommend to anyone and I will be buying some more.
