Bought this as a gift for 8 year old. I believe they will like it. It was ready to use upon arrival. It's light-weight and easy to use. It's easy to write on and erase (or lock, if you don't want to erase).

Exactly what I needed for work!! No more dry erase board mess!!

When I took a second look at the description for this device before it arrived, and, honestly, after I pulled it out of the box, I thought that this was going to be one rung above pointless.The pictures in the product listing make it seem like it is far more functional than it is. It is basically a small chalk tablet, without the chalk mess. The downside to that is that its only function is the ability to write or draw something on it, and then erase the entire surface at the push of a button. Super limited applications, in my opinion.That being said, my five-year-old son has been going nuts with this thing. He is a doodlebug, and will routinely burn through 20 pieces of paper in about ten minutes just doodling. We have tried some creative apps on his Kindle, but we’ve yet to find one that was responsive and true to touch enough to give him the same feel of a paper and pencil doodle. For everything that this little tablet isn’t, it is super responsive. It’s very similar to drawing with a fine piece of chalk on a chalkboard. As simple as that sounds, it’s actually kind of a big deal.Although its applications are limited, if you’ve got a little doodler in the house, or if you’re a doodler yourself, this tablet may be just what the doctor ordered.

This is a great tool to have on hand when you need quiet play for kids. We have found this little writing board entertains our kids at the doctor’s office, church, and driving in the car. It is easy to operate, clean and store. We have owned other writing tablets in which the writing does not always erase upon pushing the clear button. This has not been the case with SHKNH LCD writing tablet. It erases fully every time. My favorite features are the screen lock (as described above in the product description) and the stylist compartment. Both are new features to us that we didn’t not have on our previous writing tablets.One complaint is that the screen is not very sensitive to the touch of the stylist pen. You have to apply more pressure than you would expect for color on the tablet to appear. Once you get the right amount of pressure, the color is consistent and bold. It works great!

For the price, this is a good product. The writing appears faint in comparison to slightly more pricey items (and by slightly more, I mean the $16.00 range items). The stylus doesn't have anything to attach it to the board, which means it will be lost if you are not diligent about keeping the two pieces in the same place. Also, it would be nice if it came with magnets to attach it to a fridge, for example. It would be a neat way to keep grocery lists updated. It has limited appeal as a child's drawing implement, given that the "ink" is only one color. We're using it to keep track of allowance earnings and demerits (positive behaviors can earn credits in addition to his allowance while repeated infractions will be penalized at a rate of $0.25 each.). I attached this to my door with contact strips, so it's pretty secure. We prefer the Newyes Colorful Robot pad 8.5 Inch LCD Writing Tablet. It features rainbow ink which is also slightly brighter to the eye, and came with a secure resting place for the stylus and built-in magnets.It does what you'd expect it to do. If you are looking for a basic model for a reasonable price, this is a good purchase.

I really love this writing tablet because it doesn't feel like you're looking at a screen and it doesn't require anything else. With something like a dry erase board, you have to keep an eraser around as well. That's not the case with this.It's interesting, quirky and different. I like the green on black as its easy on the eyes. I love the combination of not looking at a regular screen, but still having something that can be automatically erased and also locked so you don't accidentally erase or mess up your writing/drawing.Love that it saves so much paper. I write notes every day and go through a notebook every month or two with random notes I make. This not only is kinder to the planet, it saves me from having to buy new notebooks all the time!It also came with two pens which I didn't expect.One downside - it was a huge pain to get one of the pens free. One came loose and the other came already put in its slot. Eventually we dug through our toolbox to get out a special tool so we could remove it. Now that we've pulled it out once, it's a little easier to get a pen out of the same slot, but it's still a bit frustrating.
