A great preparation for travel.
Both India and China DVD were great. It is nice to understand what you are experiencing when you are in a foreign country and these do just that. Both countries have complicated ancient histories. Michael Wood always does it right!!!!!

Michael Wood is a Master of this TV genre
Michael Wood really is the master at this kind of TV. Having watched all his previous works many times, I thought he'd probably entered a well earned retirement, and so was delighted to find this on Amazon. If you like his India, Alexander & Shakespeare productions don't hesitate for a moment to watch this; it's compelling & inspiring.

Passion for the story of China
This is an amazing series! Full of history and it's impact on modern China--but never dull or boring. Michael Wood, the historian/narrator/guide, manages to convey awe and his own passion for the rich history of China with good humor, a personal touch, and a natural gift for entertaining while teaching.

Mostly CCP propaganda
Very uninterested highly washed CCP approved history. I feel cheated. Wish there was a way to get my money back

A must see show for all the immigrant and foreign born Chinese
This show will open the eyes for the Chinese who migrated to the Western world and their descendants. Sadly many of us do not have the knowledge of the powerful continuity of the moral and spiritual foundation of Chinese culture for more than 4,000 years. In contrast to the Western world which has gone through the rise of fall of different civilizations, China has gone through the rise and fall of the same civilization. The Western world is theologically based which inspired them to seek out, evangelize and advance their technologies in order to expand their ideologies to other countries. China's moral and spiritual foundation is centered on God, but on relationships between people. It is Humanistic rather than theological. Even during the most powerful periods of the Han, Ming and Sung dynasty, with superior military and economic powers, China did not have the visions to expand and impose themselves to the rest of the world. After watching this show, it is no longer suprising for me to understand why China has become so successful again in such a short period of time. They are feeling more secured with their own identity in their past history and allowing themselves to evolve into a super power nation who can provide an alternative leadership ot the rest of the world other than the Western model.Unfortunately the Chinese regime, during the period of immense pain, fear and insecurity after being dismantled my the Western powers, had made some terrible mistakes. However, with a renewed confidence, and a good track record of 4,000 years of non-invasive and non-expansive culture, China has shown undeniable credibility to lead the world with a diffirent paradigm.
