Try at your own risk. I have a feeling I may have wasted a lot of money.
The first one of these that I received was DOA. I chose this model because it came with the most accessories. The first time I used the replacement unit, I tried to use it was on a 12V lawn tractor battery. I got an error message suggesting the battery was too dead to jump start (well, isn't that the point?). I charged the battery with a standard charger with no problem, so the cells were not damaged as suggested by this unit. What bugs me is that the little control box decides if the unit will send power to the clamps...so it won't even "try" if it senses an issue. This should have been more than adequate to jump start my little lawn tractor, not I'm worried that it won't work if I ever REALLY need it in an emergency situation.I searched a long time for a decent jump start kit, but I don't trust a majority of the reviews on these lithium jump-start products. Most of them seem fake. On the other hand, I don't want to go back to using the heavy, large Pb-acid jump starters....though I will say that my last one performed well for 5 years and actually did what it was advertised to do.My advise. Buy what you want, but test the product as soon as you receive it. Don't hesitate to send it back to Amazon if it's defective or doesn't meet your needs.

Didn't Work
The first time I tried to use this to jump start a car, it didn't work. The readout simply read "NG," which essentially means "no-go." The unit was fully charged, but just didn't work. In addition, the company did not respond to my email request for help, and the only phone number provided on their website appears to connect to a fax machine on China.

Powerful multifunctional battery--good ONLY for charging handheld electronics. As a jump, it failed completely
**Update below - Stars dropped from 5 to 1**This is a neat gizmo. It took almost all night to charge fully, but it held enough juice to recharge my iPhone 5S 4 times. It comes with a wrist strap (yeah, I know), a USB cord (think three-legged octopus) with three different tips: micro USB, apple lightning, and apple 30 pin. It also comes with a DC port (cigarette lighter style), an AC charging cord for the battery, a DC charging cord for the battery, and jumper cables (about 2' long). It also has a built-in LED light, so the battery can be used as a flashlight.I can charge my iPhone 5S, and my iPad 3 at the same time, but when I added a Moto G to the third tip, none of the machines would charge. Removing it allowed the apple devices to charge again. I haven't had a chance to test its ability to jump start a car, but it is promising. It is about the size of an iPhone 6 plus, and about one inch thick. It weighs 16.6 oz. Although the battery is fairly small, it comes in a zippered rigid nylon-covered case that is a about the size of a textbook to hold all the cords and the battery. it will have a nice home in my car trunk, but I am also thinking it will be handy for airplane travel, since recharging stations always seem to be few and far between.**Update Jan 2017**I have now needed twice to jump my car (two different cars). I tried using this each time and completely failed. We connected it to the first car and had no success. Calling it operator error, we contacted AAA and got a jump. The second time, was after a trip when my car sat in the garage for a few weeks and wouldn't turn over. I took the time to top off the charge on this battery, read the instructions carefully, and connected it to my car's battery. The clamps are really small and don't have teeth, so it was very difficult to get them to stay on the battery terminals. I followed the instructions to the T, and got nothing but "NR" (not ready) on the LCD screen. No matter what I tried, it was never ready to connect or charge my battery., which made no sense, unless the jump cables were faulty. It was supposed to indicate the backup battery charge level and let me know when it had moved enough juice to my car's battery that I could try to start the car. I tried it anyway to see if I could get just a little bit of juice into mine since the car's battery seemed pretty close to being able to turn the engine over. After leaving it connected for a while, I checked, and my battery was even deader than before. I used a few choice words, and jumped it the old fashioned way.As a portable backup battery for your electric devices, it is fine. In an emergency, you will need something or someone else to rescue you.

WOW
I used to drive across country a few times a year. I got in the habit of being very prepared an stocking my car with tools, lighters, blankets, etc to ensure that I was prepared for any number of emergencies. I don't drive more than 30 miles nowadays, but I still can't resist a good car gadget. Most of them go in my wife's car (whether she wants them or not) to ensure that she's prepared for any issues during her commute. The Maxic Compass intrigued me instantly. A little white box that can jump-start my car? You've got to be kidding me. I snatched it up eager to test it out. Left my light on overnight to drain my battery (I have a full size Forney battery charger in the garage, so I wasn't worried if the Compass didn't live up to its hype). Plugged the jump adapter into the box (couldn't be simpler) and attached the alligator clips to the battery terminals. The read-out on the digital display said OK and sure enough, started right up.It has several features that protect you, the battery and the unit. The most common you'd probably see is the NG readout on the digital display. This means that the battery is fine and it will not force current to it, which is great if you don't want to deal with a melted car battery. I do think they could've used something other than NG because, if I'm someone who hasn't read the manual, NG means nothing to me. Other than that, it's extremely straightforward, easy to operate and user friendly. It has a nice carrying case that holds all sorts of adapters for cellphones/etc as well as the unit and the jumper cables. It easily fits under your car seat or in your spare tire. The unit has a flashlight built in and USB and cigarette lighter outlet. You can charge your phone, etc. It seems to hold its charge very effectively, I haven't had it for more than a month so I can't say how long it lasts but I would think quite awhile.Overall, this is a phenomenal device to have in any car. Great for kids going off to college, wives and husbands alike. You never know when you're going to be stuck somewhere and it's surprising how few people keep jumper cables in their cars these days.
