Essentials of Biological Anthropology

As a professional student (4 bachelor’s and a master’s), I’ve read a good amount of textbooks. While I really enjoyed the excellent graphical support for the material, the actual content was below average. My professor took our quizzes one step further so I did a little research from other sources and found that many of the absolutes (this primate was definitely bipedal, etc.) were author opinions, and not shared by most bio anthropologists. As an introductory textbook, this text should have been more clear in what was author’s position and what truly was accepted as fact.The last section of the book was a slog to read. These chapters were just fossil name and location, fossil name and location, over and over through primates, early hominins, and human ancestors. Wow - so boring. This material could, and should, have been the culmination of a journey of discovery but instead was just a checklist of names. I was never so glad to finish a book as I was with this one. As all classes are online now, I didn’t even have professor and class interaction to help this book, so it had to stand on its own - and it definitely failed. What a waste of what could have been a fascinating topic.

As a student, a customer, and a reader, I'm calling out the publisher for their lack of effort in publishing this textbook to the kindle medium without taking into account the platform functionality. I don't want to have to fight with the interface to find the precise piece of information that I seek.

I am taking and Anthropology class this Spring and this book was more expensive on Chegg or my school's bookstore. I was so happy to find it cheap through Amazon and even more happy that it arrived within 2 days.

Great textbook had to purchase this for a college course. Material is easy to read, with a lot of embedded videos to further the instruction. Not too many pages, lightweight, lots of space in the margins for note making. I prefer physical copies to digital ones, so this was a good decision.

Waste of money! Paid for a new book and didnt receive the access code which will now need to purchase separately

Amazing, well written, and easy to read! I enjoyed reading this book in my Anthropology class, I learned a lot and I’m happy we used this book for my course.

Needed this for one of my college textbooks and it’s in good condition, does what it’s supposed to, and was at a good price.

I liked the quality of this book and the shipping speed.
