Opened up my partially closed ears.
Unfortunately, I waited too long to wear earrings and the back of my earring holes closed up.I was pretty scared at first, but it was pretty easy to use. I'll give some tips for those who are also afraid and need to open up their holes which have partially closed in the back. The device comes in a sealed container that looks sterile. Don't forget to wipe your ears with alcohol before you start.First what I did was I positioned the rod in the front hole and pushed it back as far as it would go without resistance. Then I put my thumb around the back of the plastic thing and slowly begin to push the device closed. There was a little bit of pain as it met resistance at the back of my ear. What I did was I just very slowly pushed it more and more closed, without releasing any pressure. As soon as it started to hurt I would stop pushing and wait. Surprisingly, my pain threshold would adjust after a few seconds and it would no longer be as painful. Then I continued. When you get far enough, the thing will snap shut with a loud click and the backing will automatically be applied to the back of the rod. That's when you know you've succeeded! Some may prefer a faster rip the Band-Aid off approach, but being a cautious person, I preferred the slower approach. It made me feel better about not accidentally poking a hole in the wrong place.I had to push the rod through a little bit in one of the ears once it was done. Afterwards, my ears have a dull ache. But I'm glad to finally be able to wear earrings again. I will probably keep these in for a while until my ears heal before I switch to any other earrings.Another tip for the pain: What helped me was to imagine I was just pushing earrings in instead of cutting the skin. that helped me feel better, because I had already experienced the pain of pushing earrings through holes that were too small in the past. Another idea is you can focus on it as a personal test of your strength to tolerate pain. Imagine you're in a movie being tortured but you're going to endure and not give away your secrets to save the day! Or maybe you're resisting someone trying to force you to denounce your political party or religion! Lol that makes it sound more painful than it is - It really wasn't that bad, so don't be too scared.Good luck to all and congrats for being brave enough to do this.

Effective
I got my second holes pierced like 10 years ago and I let them close up. I ordered these and it was literally so easy. I wasn’t even sure if I’d be capable of doing it right but these are nice and sharp and they already came in the little plastic “gun” thing and they just popped right through!!! The gem is small but good quality

Excellent - easy to use, no pain
One hole had closed up in the back and for the first time I just couldn’t pierce that skin with a normal earring. This product worked really well and I barely felt a thing. I decided to remove the earring from the applicator as I didn’t want to misjudge and open a new hole. I squeezed the applicator until the earring JUST touched the backing and it popped out. It pierced that little layer of skin easily and while the back is tight and requires some pressure to slide it on, it wasn’t a big challenge. I’m not going to sleep in them as it will likely be uncomfortable for side sleepers, but I’ll definitely be keeping these for re-use whenever those holes close up. Excellent product!

GOOD QUALITY EARRING FOR PIERCED EARS!
I've had pierced ears for years & love earrings! I've wanted a second pierce hole on my earlobes & finally got the courage. I'm a US licensed RN, give myself injections prescribed by an MD so I have sterile needles, syringes, & generic Lidocaine in my home. Yesterday, I twisted my husband's arm, & he helped me pierce new spots on my lobes, higher & further back than my original pierce holes. We put these Studex Stainless Steel posts in & all is well! There is only a very mild discomfort so not even Tylenol is needed. The only reason I didn't give these earrings 5 stars is that the earring backs have been hard to remove & replace, as though the holes in them are a bit small. I took the backs on & off a number of times to sort of prime them before putting them in my new pierce holes. Otherwise, the earrings are cute, very sturdy, & I recommend them. Stainless steel is a metal that most human bodies tolerate well. Hope my comment helps others. Maureen Sayre, BSN RN

Third set I have used.
These work really good, I have used them on others 3 times with good results. The holder pretty much explodes when squeezed together but at that point its not needed anymore. Seems I always worry if it will work properly but they haven't failed me yet.

Works great!
This was so easy to use! I used to re-pierce my third holes a couple days ago after having them closed for nearly 10 years so I was worried about redoing them in the same spots with the little bit of scar tissue but these worked great! Went right through my ear and didn’t feel as traumatic as the guns in the mall plus it’s cheaper! Hardest part is getting courage to actually do it. I was able to go slow and get it just right before clamping down like a stapler. So far I’ve had no swelling and only a little redness right after doing it. Would use again!

Nickel is not an issue with these
Bought these as a last resort. Both my girls 17 and 5 had ears pierced with what we thought was surgical stainless, come to find them 2 weeks in, infected due to nickel sensitivity. I purchased the piercing set by studex for my son, not only simple and hands down the easiest task, his ears with studex earrings never got infected.I purchased my girls these earrings and boom better within days!!! Lesson learned.Studex for new piercingsStudex for people irritated by nickelStudex for infected ears.( Along with a good cleaning regimen, never alcohol or peroxide on new piercings) good old sea salt mixed into sterilized water. I used an after piercing, saline mist spray for convenience found here on Amazon, 3x a day, with clean hands. Not med advice but what we did to clear new piercing infection due to nickel allergy. We switched to studex at week 4 and magic. Infection all cleared up!They shine like crazy too! Look realGreat for all ages.Didn't need the piercing cartridge it comes with. EASY to take out and insert. So very happy
