Best yoga mat for Under $100. Beats out Liforme at 2/3 the price.
I am an RYT-200 hour certified yoga teacher and have been practicing for about 15 years. I have had dozens of yoga mats. This is my favorite mat I have EVER had for heated studios. It is sticky when dry, but then super absorbent, remaining sticky when it gets soaked with sweat. Most mats are one or the other. I have to pour water on my 50% more expensive Liforme mat so I don’t slide around at the beginning of practice. It is absorbent enough to not need to use a towel at any point. This means less laundry and less schlepping of wet, sweaty stuff. The weight, however, is the best part. It is well padded and yet dense and heavy, creating an extremely stable and supportive surface. I don’t need extra padding for knees in lunges or camel, for hips in locust or bow, or for my head in sirsasana.

I wanted to love this mat . . . and I do!!
I've only used this mat twice since I got it a couple of days ago, but having used at least three other types of mats over the last two years, I instantly felt the difference with this mat. It's heavy, but it stays in place, and it doesn't buckle from stretching, and my hands and feet do not slip when doing the downward dog and warrior poses. So far, so good! The strap that comes with it is okay, but because the mat is heavier than most mats, a yoga mat carrier would be better for toting it and protecting it when not in use.

No manual or product information whatsoever, used item?
I think I received a used item from Amazon and yet was charged full price: I'm not happy about that. (Read my first point, below.) I've not yet exercised on the mat because I want to find out if I received a used one before I try to do Yoga on it. The mat seems to have some marks on it as it if was sweated on before, so I'd like to know how best to remove them without damaging the material.---------First of all, for a $107 mat, I expected some paperwork--something--anything--to arrive with the product. The product photos show a presumably new, rolled mat with what looks like a brown piece of paper wrapped like a collar around its midsection. The mat I received didn't come with that. It came in a box and was the mat was wrapped in clear plastic (like cellophane). But that's it. No thank-you note, no product bar code, no mention of country of origin; nothing to tell me how to clean the mat, how to care for it, etc.; not even anything to clarify which side is rubber and which is PU (even the Seller doesn't specify--in the questions section on this page s/he just says that one side is rubber and the other is PU--I want to know WHICH side is which, is that too much to ask?).Second, the mat smells very strong of rubber. This is a fact. It smells. I believe that this smell will dissipate, but be forewarned: This smells like rubber. And that makes sense, because it is composed (at least in part) of rubber. I am quite annoyed that one person who answered the questions associated with this product said that there is NO [sic] smell. Well, I suppose there is no smell if you were born without a nose or perhaps have no sense of smell or maybe a bad case of the flu, but I am quite sure that most people will absolutely positively smell the strong rubber odor wafting away from this mat. That's not to say that it's so strong that it is entirely objectionable--but if you don't love the smell of rubber (and who does?), it might bother you. Most of the time when I do Yoga my nose is far enough from the mat that I don't think I will smell the rubber. But when I do a downward-facing dog then I am prepared to smell the rubber in all its glory. The mat is HEAVY, but I'm okay with that because it just exudes quality (and my arms could use a bit of extra weight to work against from time to time). The printed, smooth surface of the mat is the side I think might be PU rubber--it looks really great. The graphics and Sacred logo are superbly designed and elegant, making this look like a mat that's made for someone who means business. I think the seller should make an effort to advise this huge yoga community on Amazon so that we can learn which side is designed for what purpose. I like the graphics on the smooth side, so my inclination is to keep that side up. However, the textured side feels really grippy--so maybe that's the side that should be up, especially if I'm in a Hot Yoga class on that particular day.But I just can't know because I have no documentation that came with the product that I could consult. Even the last $24.99 mat I bought was delivered along with an impressive multi-page brochure containing care instructions, details about the company, guidelines, useful tips, and information about other products. This product came with a corrugated shipping box. Oh, and also with a clear plastic wrap (that looks like it might not have been from the manufacturer). And that's it.So I feel mixed. I wanted to like this mat (as did another reviewer), but I don't. Or at least I don't like that I might have a used product with no documentation. I don't know whether to blame Amazon or the seller. Either way, I'm disappointed especially for such a high-end mat--and I might return it. I first want to determine what happened or if this is just the way this product is shipped and presented.

Still slippery when wet
I bought this yoga mat for a few reasons: it’s larger (I’m 6’), it’s made from biodegradable materials, and it is suppose to grip well when wet. The last of those is not entirely accurate. It really depends on how much you sweat, and I sweat A LOT in my hot yoga class! I brought my yoga mat towel just in case and had to use it half way through the class because my sweat drenched palms were slipping in downward dog. For the price of this mat, I was hoping I wouldn’t need to purchase a towel but it looks like I will need to buy a long towel now as well. - 1 star

Great eco friendly mat!
I don't typically write reviews unless I'm extremely impressed. And this eco-friendly yoga mat is amazing! I take tones of yoga classes, sometimes hot yoga; and I go thru several yoga mats a year, This one is a bit pricier but its eco friendly, 100% sustainable, it also has great grip and the length is perfect for me. I definitely look forward to doing yoga with my new mat and highly recommended to those that look for eco-friendly yoga mats! Thank you Sacred Yoga!

Super grippy and sticky for the sweatiest hands
During my yoga practice, hot yoga or not, I always find my hands slipping during downward dog. I was always that person that needed a towel or blocks underneath my hands otherwise my hands would start losing their grip within the first 10 mins. I've tried the towel-mats and those are good but only at your sweatiest - otherwise you're still slipping around when the mat isn't wet.So I started looking for rubber sticky mats. I happened upon this one because it looked like it used the sticky rubber material but at a slightly more reasonable price point than the Liforme. Let me tell you - this purchase is TOTALLY worth it. I've never used a Liforme but I'm guessing this is the same type of mat for a lower price. I feel secure, even when I start sweating my hands and feet don't move. I'm finding I can hold postures way better than I ever did. It is that perfect sticky rubber material that stays grippy even when it's wet. Any water on it evaporates pretty quickly. If you are a sweaty hands/feet yogi, this mat is a wonderful choice. Am debating buying another one in another color!
