Ancient Egypt: An Interactive History Adventure (You Choose: Historical Eras) Paperback – September 1, 2009

We bought it for our son because I loved reading these kind of books when I was young. I forgot how true to history and somewhat violent they could be. Probably look through some of the endings before you give them to a younger child and make sure they are appropriate for them. In a lot of the adventures you can end up getting killed off in very unpleasant ways.

I got this for my 7 year old daughter who is excited by history and interested in Egyptian history. She and my 9 year old son both really like the book and loved the idea. My son thought that there would be more story to each path and I admit that there are usually only three or four choices to be made before reaching "The End". Still, both kids eagerly are reading and rereading it to try the different paths and periods and I've already gotten requests for more in the series.

My son loves to read and reads every day. He prefers fantasy and adventure books, but we also wanted him to read more history and non-fiction. We got some books in the You Choose Books series and he enjoys them. You can read this book multiple ways with multiple outcomes and he read it every way he could think of so that he ended up reading the whole book.I think it is a good vehicle to get kids who are reluctant to read history to start learning about some of the great real life stories and adventures that happened in real life.

My students love these choose your own adventure books. They even make great read alouds where we vote on the path we take.

I wanted to expose my son to more History and less Harry Potter & Star Wars type books. This did it. He finds them interesting and LOVES choosing his path in history. It is funny to hear him have his 6 year old brother choose a path and then report in whether they lived or died. He has been engaged needless to say. Thank you. Great book series. I am using them as a read aloud to supplement our home school story of the world curriculum. The kids love making the choices and seeing their fate. I love that it has pictures within the text. I plan to buy the next era of books next year.

My 10 year old twins love these stories. They are more fashioned after the choose-your-own adventure style of the past. We highly recommend this book along with the others in the series. I didn't receive anything for my opinion.
