A Perfect Blues Cocktail
Unbelievably awesome is this cd! Been a fan of Joe Bonamassa for awhile now and was blown away by this latest cd Redemption. It is the quintessential blues cocktail. It has everything! Slow grinding blues, funky blues, and tripping blues. Some stand outs are Molly O, Deep In the Blues Again, and of course Self Inflicted Wounds. What really grabs me are the solos. Joe shreds and pays homage to the legendary greats. My favorite song is I've Got Some Mind Over What Matters. Joe is singing with us - not at us. We've all been down and Joe celebrates the highs and lows of life with us. Just when you are settled into this cd, Joe takes us on an unexpected journey with The Ghost of Macon Jones. Wow, another great song!I could listen to the slow pounding blues of Joe Bonamassa all day, but happy to ride with the upbeat King Bee Shakedown too. Great album. It's a little bit of everything rolled into a perfectly mixed drink. Enjoy!

Great Addition
If you like Joe, you will love this new studio CD. Some outstanding guitar work, instrumentals horns and vocals. The music is full as he added a couple of other guitarist to the mix. Joe needs no help with the guitar, but he's able to really cook out the tunes while having a little back up guitar to fill it all in. This is one of his best studio recording to date. Joe's voice is mature and full. If you don't like Joe, you probably are not reading this review and you really need to start acquiring a taste for the best blues rocker alive today. Hes amazing live and he's amazing in the studio. He's obviously working through some "stuff" which gives meaning to his own Blues! This one is best served at full volume.

Redemption?
Ok Joe. I'm one of your biggest fans but, time to take a break! Go on tour with Black Country Communion for 2 years! You are running out of ideas and starting to sound repetitive. Please drop Kevin Shirley also and try a new producer. CD starts out red hot and goes downhill quickly. I appreciate trying new things out of the box, but this does not do it for me!Maybe next time.

Interesting.
Let me start by saying a huge Bonamassa fan. Seen him live at least three times. Have every LP including the ones with Beth Hart. This is a very strange LP from Joe. I really like it but it is strange. Nothing like anything he has done. I am not saying this is a bad thing just saying it is different. For Joe fans a would say a must own. For new fans I would say NOT the LP you should start with.

A new modern blues rock classic!
This is a record that is destined to be a classic. The incredible maturation of Joe Bonamassa as song writer has been fun to watch over the years and he has risen to a much greater height with this effort. Truly spectacular writing, singing, and of course guitar playing along with a dedicated band of consummate professionals. This is a must have for any Blues rock fan!

The defintion of American Blues
When I consider a blues musician, I consider several talents. Is the artist an virtuoso instrumentalist? Does the musician sing with haunting feeling? Can the artist compose music that expresses the pain and redemption of life?Joe can do all three. In my view, this is a composite musician.Take King Bee Shakedown. This tune has a driving bass line. Great utilization of talent back-up vocals. The pain is evident in “Self-Infected Wounds.” There is a sound behind the chords that I have yet to identify. The guitar in “I’ve got Some Mind Over What Matters, “calls out the pain of self-examination.If the reader wishes to experience passionate electric blues, this recording is recommended. If your taste desires a further portion, go by the Greek Theater release.

Another Knockout From Bonamassa
It's impossible to name a Bonamassa "best" album. Why? Because they're all so different. He explores all kinds of new sonic, melodic, and harmonic ideas album after album while remaining firmly rooted in his Blues beginnings. More often than not, I don't think I'm listening to him play, I'm going exploring with him. This is another one of those meditations. It's different than his previous work (duh), but it's richly textured, accessible, and above all else, supremely musical.Oh, by the way, there are places on this album where I think he may be channeling Led Zepplin ... and I mean that in a good way...

Another gem by Joe
This guy is one of the most prodigious musicians on the planet. Remarkably, everything he does is good. The drum beat on the opening song is very reminiscent of classic Led Zeppelin, which kicks the album off nicely. The songs are very well written and Joe's guitar work is excellent. Those who are not listening to this guy are missing out on one of the all time greats on guitar. This album seems like a logical extension to his British Blues album.

Redemption, it’s a put on.
Wow, what a fantastic album from a criminally underrated artist. A bit like marmite is Bonamassa, but I have to say this piece of work is truly awesome. Every note is bang on. Nothing excessive, cleverly layered with something new to hear upon each subsequent listen. I’m converted and looking to get more of his back catalogue now. His years in the business have paid dividends and this is rightly rated as his finest album to date. Amazing guitars, quality band and a powerful voice tick all the boxes for me. This cd hasn’t left my player since release date. First class, if only I could afford to see him live!

Outstanding album. !!
This guy gets better- I have everything he’s done and this really is an awesome album of 12 new tracks ( no covers ) going back to the blues roots while mixing in a slightly funky feel on a couple of tracks. Superb - being old school- def worth buying rather than download- a truly premium refreshing album.

Not the best Bonamassa album
I love Joe's music and have all his albums and have seen him live a number of times but I have to say this is not Joe at his best. I was a bit disappointed at first listening but the more I listen to it the more I like it. I think it is one of those albums that you have to play a few times before you make up your mind.

Another 5* Album from JB
You expect great playing now from Joe and his band as standard. but the overall quality from start to finish is just breathtaking. I won't pay the ticket prices for gigs but as long as the albums are this good who cares .... just listen and enjoy 😎

Not his best
I have been a fan of Joe’s for many a year now. I’ve also been to see him on numerous occasions and have all his albums and I’m afraid to say I was a bit underwhelmed by Redemption. I’ve listened to it a few times now, and I’m still struggling to pick out at least one or two stand out tracks. Every other album of his has at least three or four, that I really like, but this feels a little bit like Joe’s going through the motions a bit. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a terrible album, it’s just not as good as his previous fare.If you’re new to Joe Bonamassa, I think you’d enjoy this album, but for those of us who have followed his career from the first early gigs at the Point in Cardiff to his much larger venues, this is a bit of a disappointment.
